We were lucky enough to be accompanied by Carl Jackson on our tour around Dublin. Due to the mixed age group, Carl accommodated our specific requests for the tour and we managed to pack a lot into a short time, even including a refreshment break. We really enjoyed Carl's introduction to Dublin and Irish history - it was both informative and entertaining. He also gave us some excellent recommendations of other things to do including an excellent free museum - you will have to do the tour to find out which one it is! I would highly recommend taking this tour as the experience will be completely different to what you expect! Enjoy!

Our group absolutely loved our walking tour! Our guide, John Caffrey, was exceptional and surpassed our hopes for the tour. He was very accommodating to our large group, and tailored the tour to our needs and interests. We were able to see so much of the city during our time on the tour, including stops such as the local museums, monuments, historical sites, and more. We loved seeing the Dublin Castle, Christ Church, Trinity College, St. Stephen’s Green, Grafton Street, and so many other sites. The Oscar Wilde statue and story really stood out to me, along with Molly Malone, Bram Stoker, and O’Connell’s stories. John had an absolute gift for retelling the local and country-wide history. From the famines the Irish endured, to the economic changes overtime, to their religious history and the important figures that led the charges. We learned so much. John’s love and pride for his country was truly touching. When we reached the end of our time and there were still a few stops left to see, he even extended our tour time. That was not something we expected, but something we appreciated beyond measure. If you are considering a walking tour of Dublin, I would recommend this company, and specifically, to book with John if you can. We even took many lovely photos of our group at various stops. This stands out as one of our very best days during our week in Ireland, and by far, the day where we learned the most about things we will take with us about Ireland’s amazing history. Thank you John, for an awesome tour!

I am rating John Chaffrey amongst the top 3 tour guides that I’ve ever had! I had done quite a bit of reading about Dublin’s history before arriving. The tiny bit of knowledge I had was nothing compared to what John told us during our tour. His knowledge of history, legends, and modern day Dublin were vast and may have overwhelmed us but his style of sharing it with us was most enjoyable. The tour was fast paced but never did we feel rushed. John seemed to really enjoy what he was doing and for that I admire him for finding his true calling. I especially loved his ability to tell us stories and he even took us time traveling to the days of Molly Malone the beautiful, voluptuous, young woman who sold fish in Dublin. In the next instant we saw an Oscar and an Emmy statue. Musically, we traveled on Fishamble Road to see the sight where Handel’s Messiah was performed and at another point in the tour, we were at the site where U2 were signed. My husband and I really loved every minute that we spent with John. The 5 hours flew by and we found ourselves wishing for another 5! Entertaining and Enlightening.

Visited multiple museums and walked through the city center to learn about the history and relics and artifacts of ireland. Very efficient walking tour that uncovered the best objects in the various museums we visited which we would not have found or known about so easily if we were did not have john as our guide. John catered the three hour tour to our interests and was willing to be as brief or in depth in sharing his knowledge in line with our interests and time.

We did a two-hour tour with 22 German students, concentrating on sights and Irish History. The walk was very interesting, Cathal succeeded in combining historical facts with interesting details and little stories. The students, who have been learning English for about 6.5 years could understand him easily and thoroughly enjoyed the tour. And even the weather was perfect!

Austin Rock just gave us an outstanding tour of Dublin! There are not enough superlatives to describe his breadth and entertaining presentation of millennias of information. His charm is a credit to him and to Ireland. He truly has made our trip and the whole of Ireland live for us.

Marc was an excellent guide of Dublin’s fair city. Very knowledgeable and provided a balanced narrative on the history of Dublin and Ireland in general. Even though I knew a little about Dublin in general he provided great color commentary. He tailored the visit to our needs, picked us up at our hotel and made sure the itinerary matched our timeline.

We booked a private 9 hour tour. Our guide, John Caffrey, entertained us with his knowledge of Irish history, art, architecture a d culture. Our first time in Dublin. We feel walking is the best way to explore a new city and John didn't disappoint. Finished drinking Redbreast at the "smallest pub in Dublin". Highly recommend John.

We had a lovely walking tour of Dublin with Mark Hanratty We were a group of 6 traveling together to Dublin for just 2 days.
Mark took us on a pretty comprehensive walking trip around some very interesting parts of Dublin...Almost All of Dublin in a Day was the title of the private tour, and that is what it was indeed.
We had a strong interest in history and cultural aspects of Dublin, and Mark was able to show us interesting sights and give us so many specific details of what we were seeing.
Mark was very personable and took the time to get to know us as we walked between sights, and he chose a very thoughtful place for us to have our lunch break based on what we described we were looking to eat.
Mark made us feel like we were his guests in his city and he couldn't have been happier to show us around. A very enjoyable way to spend a day in Dublin seeing some sights.
Thanks again Mark!! - Bridget, Matt, Willa, Sierra, Blythe, and Gina

We spent two days back-to-back doing the private walking tour of Dublin and then the private pub tour. Austin Rock was our guide on both and he was nothing short of exceptional. Incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and overall easy to talk to. The pub tour was our favorite of the two—Austin guided us through an evening of traditional beer, food, and music, all while keeping cheerful company and making us laugh along the way. Cannot recommend this tour and Austin enough.
