Description:

The Stags Head is a historical Dublin pub featured in Dublin Pub tours...

The Stags Head is a historical Dublin pub featured in Dublin Pub tours renowned for it's hospitality and famous pint of Guinness! You truly capture a sense of the hidden Ireland when you accidentally stumble upon The Stag’s Head. Finding it is akin to discovering a rare treasure as it is concealed through a narrow passageway off Dame Street, although access can also be gained through Exchequer Street or Georges Street. When you enter inside this feeling of discovered booty is greatly intensified as a virtual paradise of culture and old world values confronts you. This is probably Dublin’s best preserved Victorian pub - and everything here is of authentic Victorian origin. Take time to look around and savour the sumptuously carved Victorian mahogany fittings, the mosaic marble tiled floors and granite tabletops. Visiting the Stag’s Head is a wondrous experience wether you call when the premises is cosy, warm and glowing at night time, or in early morning when this is old repository of liquid culture is radiantly illuminated by wafts of sunlight filtering through the stained glass windows. The mahogany bar, capped with red Connemara marble, follows the classic Victorian architectural pattern, being long and punctuated by exquisite partitions that divide into private compartments or stalls.

My friend Jerry and I visited Dublin in mid-January at the beginning of our eight day trip to Ireland. On our first day we walked into the Stag's Head to ask for directions and met Chris the bartender. Little did we know that that chance meeting would introduce us to the spot that became one of the highlights of our... More

Loved this little pub. It really does hold an authentic pub experience and had a great beer and cider selection at not a bad price to be in the center of Dublin. The ambiance here and the people are great, especially if you're trying to escape the touristy bars. After dinner time it gets a bit crowded but show up... More

The Stag's Head is known for their high quality Guinness pints. There are many other beers, of course.

We visited the pub after a day in Dublin before returning home and we found this place to have a final pint and a bite to eat. The service was excellent and the food was lovely. We shared a burger with hand cut chips. The pub was warm and friendly but with little corners to hide away in couples. Would... More

I visited this pub a couple of times during a visit to Dublin and I enjoyed each visit. The barkeep was hilarious and the atmosphere was pleasant. I'll be stopping in during my next trip to Dublin as well!

While travelling from the airport to our hotel I asked the taxi driver for some pub recommendations as I wanted to avoid the ultra - touristy establishments in Temple Bar and this was one of two he quoted. And a great choice it was too. My wife and I had eaten in the Corfu Greek restaurant in Parliament Street (highly... More

I was recommended this pub by a friendly taxi driver who drove me to the city from the airport. A little tricky to find but once there, on a cold, extremely wet and dreary December day I was pleased to have made the effort to find it! The interior is typical of a lot of the bars - dark wood,... If your looking for lively trad and folk/rebel songs, look no further. Prices are as extortionate as expected in the Temple Bar area but it is by far the nicest bar with the best entertainment in the district.
