The George is not just any bar or any gay bar. It is the first port of call for young gay people in Ireland, it is the venue where gay and straight people mix together and where international visitors stop to check out the gay scene in Ireland. The George has been the lynchpin that holds Dublin's gay scene together. Having been around for 30 years it has been a home to the development of the social evolution of gay Ireland.

"A mix of styles with a sprinkling of fairy dust thrown in", The George features two bar areas; the front bar affectionately known as ‘Bridies' after one of the bar's longest serving staff members; with its low lighting and leather clad barstools is the perfect spot for a quiet drink and a chat. The main club venue has been graced by the presence of some of the hottest international acts including Alexandra Burke, Daniel Johnson, The Saturdays and Bananarama. It is also where you can see some of the best weekly performances in the city Space'N'Veda, Davina's House-Party and featuring International Cabaret Artiste Extraordinaire TM and former child-star Shirley Temple Bar at Sunday night Bingo!

Fun place, it is all about diversity!

Nice bar and fun atmosphere in the place, not the usual gay bar, it a bit more than that! It does set the scene of all people getting together around. BTW, easy to speak... read more

I came in here about 6.30 in the evening on a pub crawl, and it was by far the most crowded and rocking pub of the lot, stayed for an hour, nice friendly crowd, good music, good froth, happy days!

Ended up here on holiday and Eurovision was on in full swing. Great atmosphere and good drag acts. They occasionally bring rupauls drag race queens over from usa which is great for the Irish to see their queens #werk

Ok so I know a lot of LGBT bars don't like Hen Party's but there was no need to be so rude! Myself and a group of friends (some of which are gay) tried to get in here on Sunday evening for the Bingo night but were refused entry. I get it lots of hen do's go to these bars... More

Fab venue with lovely people, more bar staff would have been useful but otherwise excellent. We will return!

We had a great time here. It is two floors with an outside area downstairs for people who smoke or vape. They had a coat check as well. Good music and decent priced drinks.

This appears to be a very popular night spot for the gay community and their supporters. The place was hopping when we arrived and as the hour neared for the nightly drag show approached, it only got busier. The main rooms are open and airy, with plenty of places to sit. There is an equally spacious back alley for smokers.

Booked the stage seats. One of the best nights I've had in ages. The show was amazing I've not laughed that much in ages. Great bar service, we'll be back.
