I admit visiting later there wasn't going to be much to see but as a fan of Mrs Brown's Boys, I couldn't come to Dublin and not find this street. The stalls looked very much like the movie. It was very central to our hotel so didn't take much time out of our day it was worth the trip.

Moore Street Market in Dublin's city centre is a piece of old Dublin tradition that is slowly slipping away. Everyone should go see, hear and feel the lovely old fruit and vegetable street market and it's wonderful stallholders as soon as possible. The old market, just off the main O'Connell Street behind the historic General Post Office used to be a cornerstone of Dublin city life. Everyone went there at least once a week for family supplies of meat, fruit and veg in the pre-supermarket conglomerate days. The stall holders were famous Dublin characters and their style and humour were passed down from mother to daughter and father to son. Their tradition and heritage is now threatened by modernisation and so called progress. Their plight has just been featured in the hilarious new BBC production "Mrs Brown....da Movie". All visitors to Dublin should go down to Moore Street, sample the fruit and chat to the stall holders. It is a tourist experience like no other and well worth the time spent in a disappearing but entertaining Dublin tradition.

Moore Street used to be the heart and soul of Dublin City. A central part of the 1916 rising and a thriving market for over 100 years. it is now badly run down with very few stalls left. With a bit of investment this are could be a big tourist attraction but its isn't.

Thursday 4th August we were walking about the streets of Dublin exploring sights and the landmarks in the City.

It was also a bit of a trip down memory lane as I grew up in Dublin many years ago. So a visit here was a must.

This old street was once lined, from top to bottom with fruit, vegetable and flower sellers. It was always part of the heart and soul of the City, a bustling and noisey street. The sound of the Traders bellowing out the price and quality of their wares was the voice of the City.

Sadly when we visited here today, it was such a disappointment, there were not many stalls here and the voices were quiet. It was sad to see another slice of Dublin's rich past disappearing.

This is not what I expected to see after having read the reviews of this vibrant street. If there is a market, then it is limited to a small number of merchants who are mostly selling fruit and vegetables. Furthermore, this street seems to be invaded by low-price shops and therefor attracts special groups of people who are constantly arguing.

This is a place to see Dublin people, selling their wares at their stalls. It is full of life.

This street is on the north side, in the centre of Dublin, and it used to be famous for it's open air fruit and vegetable market. There used to be some great characters here, flogging their wares, but now it's gone totally downmarket and dangerous. I would be familiar with most of the streets in the city centre, and this is the only one, where I would not feel comfortable and safe in. Every time I visit it gets worse. Now it's full of dodgy characters selling "cigarettes and tobacco", which is probably sourced from some eastern European country. If you want to visit, go down in broad daylight, keep an eye on your wallet or handbag, and don't buy any tobacco from the skangers! It used to be full of Irish people, not you'll find the dregs of Europe and Africa. Something needs to be done about this once famous street.

This is a seriously ugly street that has lost any charm it ever had. Despite its tame historical significance, I would be happy to see it torn down and re-developed.

Just on the side of Henry street.. You find locals with stalls selling vegetable and fruits much cheaper than the local supermarkets.. There is also an underground "shopping center" that I dont really like but its worth a visit if you are in the area..
