Sadly could only do half the tour as they were hosting an event. Still worth visiting though. Really informative guide who talked us through the history of the place. A brilliant museum at the end with loads of historical pieces to view. Very harrowing stories...More

I have never been on such an emotionally impactful tour. The guide was incredibly knowledgeable and really brought the history alive. I have done the tour twice now and would go back again.

Very memorable visit to this historic site. We followed the Guide whom gave a very good story to every aspect, including the film Italian Job, to the more historic political haunting recounts of the Political prisoners. Simply a must for history enthusiasts.

Loved this place. The guide was very knowledgable and gave a good in-site to life inside Gaol. We had lunch in the cafe which was nice. I would recommend that you book this tour on line as it gets very busy

Definitely plan early as this is not a drop-in tour place. They put you on a list for a dedicated tour stop and often times, the same day is booked in full. We toured with our toddler son. I wouldn't recommend it for young kids,...More

When I booked online it said there were no more spots available for weeks. To ensure you get to see it I would recommend pre-booking.

Dublin Itinerary 30-Dec through 03-Jan- critiques welcome (3 Replies)
Hello friends. My daughter and I will be in Dublin on the above-mentioned dates and our itinerary has been crafted, but since we've never been, would appreciate any fine tuning. 29-Dec: arrival via Rail/Sail, checking into Buswells at about 7pm 30-Dec : day one of two day HOHO bus (we like them as an overview at the beginning of a new city trip). See Little Museum of Dublin, Dublin Castle, Guinness Storehouse, Kilmainham Gaol. (Can also do any of these on day 2 of the HOHO bus if too much...More

Where will I parkl the car near Kilmainham Gaol (11 Replies)
Hi all, A quickie !! I will have the car with me when visiting the Gaol this w/e. Where will I park it? I've searched reviews on TA to find out but most visitors it seems don't take a car there. As i will be passing right by on my way into city centre I was going to visit. Will you let me know what my parking options are?

Uasal, Thomas Street car park is QUITE a hike from Kilmainham Gaol, at least 20 mins walk. I would suggest trying to find parking on Emmet Road and walking around the corner to the Gaol. hope this helps

Help needed with transportation from Dun Laoghaire to Dublin (14 Replies)
Hi! Would really appreciate help figuring out how to get from Dun Laoghaire to Dublin. I think Dart is my best bet into Dublin, but can't seem to figure out what stop to get off that would be close to the green HOHO. Our first destination once in Dublin is the Kilmainham Gaol. Can help would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks!
