About
Located in Dublin’s historic Liberties, Pearse Lyons Distillery, Dublin’s only boutique distillery, is a five-minute walk from The Guinness Storehouse. Nestled in the former Church of St. James, this distillery has a colourful history dating back to the 12 Century. On tour of the distillery and surrounding graveyard, guests are introduced to the compelling characters from Dublin’s famous distilling and brewing district. This district, rich in culture and tradition, was once a place of booming industry known as The Golden Triangle. The Pearse Lyons Distillery produces some of Ireland’s finest small batch Irish whiskies and celebrates the Irish tradition of storytelling on each guided tour. Guests enjoy a sensory experience as they are brought through the distilling process, before enjoying whiskey and gin tastings at our tasting bar. All booklets, interactives and welcome video are translated in seven languages (English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Chinese and Portuguese)

- Chelsea RJohns Island, South CarolinaHighly reccomend!Loved this tour! You learn quited a bit about Irish whiskey as well as some local history at the same time. The distillery is incredibly beautiful and unique, and tours are controlled so the experience felt comfortable and intimate rather than crowded and out of control. The whiskeys were also very good. Highly recommend.Visited March 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten June 8, 2024
- goes like this, partly good partly well wellTaste is a matter of taste. This also applies to the 5 or 6 whiskeys that were served during the tour. They weren't my taste. On the other hand, the tour was recommended. First a film in German about the history of the distillery and then the dedicated leadership and explanation of the TEchniken. All very well. The ambience of the distillery in a former church should be emphasized. The equipment of the distillery is not in a simple hall but in a church with stained glass windows etc.Hello, Thank you very much for your review. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed the tour and the distillery. We hope to welcome you back to the distillery soon!Written September 23, 2024This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited August 2024Traveled with friendsWritten September 18, 2024
- Dublin GráinneDublin, IrelandDan's the man!Top marks to Dan and Pearse Lyons Distillery! Joined a Dublin Festival of History tour and really enjoyed the hour long insight into this relatively new Distillery in the heart of the Liberties. Dan was really personable, engaging and so informative. Will look forward to returning for a tasting tour before long. Thank you very much 👍Visited October 2024Traveled soloWritten October 4, 2024

A wonderful tour. I enjoyed learning the history of the distillery and it's founder as well as the process of distilling. It's a very personable tour thanks to our guide Andrew. You can touch and smell a lot of the stages of the product and I would recommend getting the full tasting "legacy" option. Very glad I went and my only request is to sell the shot glasses as I wished they were on sale when I went. This distillery is easily accessible via the tour buses.

A Church of Whisky! What a phenomenal historical tour and tasting! Sheila was a delight and had such a command of the detailed history of St. James Church and graveyard along with the inhabitants. The Irish whisky tasting was great with such a unique atmosphere. My wife and I were so impressed with the Lyons family and how they restored the grounds with such care. The whisky was excellent and the gin too! Really worth the stop and appreciated how personal and intimate the experience was - especially after the crowds at Guinness!

This was one of the friendliest and unique distillery tours we have taken. On this occasion our party included My wife and I and my grown up son. A beautiful setting made all the more special because of the obvious love and dedication put into this facinating project. Not only that but to produce such a fabulous range of whiskey to boot. Staff were knowledgeable and obviously vested in all that has been and is going on at Pearse Lyons. Highly recommended attraction and a very special shout out to our friendliest of tour guides, Grant. You made our visit so memorable.

An interesting place but our tour guide was very difficult to hear, she talked very safely and would start speaking before the group had gathered around her. And should would talk while looking away from the group.
The place itself is very interesting, a distillery in an old church. I enjoyed visiting the place itself but wished for a better tour guide.

I won’t give up too much detail because I don’t want to spoil it but this is by far the best whiskey distillery tour I’ve been on and you must go.
If you put yourself as a whiskey connoisseur, pay extra for the top tour (legacy I think) and of you aren’t, do it anyway because it’s incredible. My partner, who was apprehensive to begin with, and I came away very pleased. History of the distillery, the method of making and the tasting were all expertly given by our amazing tour guide David F. He was very knowledgeable, friendly and funny all the way through.
Again, of the distilleries I’ve been to, this is by far the best I’ve been to, if you’ve been to the Guinness Storehouse and had an excellent experience, I would say Pearse Lyons distillery is on a par.
It was nice to see the tasting was generous too, compared to others I’ve been too.
Plus, the extra gin tasting we had (that was included) was the best gin I’ve had!!!!

We booked the deluxe ticket on the big bus tour and this tour came free as part of the deal. Our guide was a lady called Sheila who was knowledgeable, witty and passionate about her job. Amazing to see a distillery in a church with taste testing at the end. I do not like whiskey but loved the tour and learnt a lot about Dublin

Surprisingly this must see attraction isn't included on the Dublin Pass list. Like other reviewers we received free entry after purchasing a ticket upgrade for one of the bus tours. The staff were, in our case Emma and David, were both extremely enthusiastic in sharing their in-depth knowledge of the business and brand. The standard of renovation to the church is stunning and seeing two copper stills where the altar would normally be is pretty quirky to say the least! At the end of the tour/tasting the tea rooms are just as impressive with more friendly service and tasty cakes. Overall a fantastic visit offering a far more interesting experience than some of the better known brands.

Really enjoyed our tour over the weekend with John! The buildings are finished to such a high standard and the site has a fascinating history. John was incredibly knowledgeable and great craic! The whiskey itself was gorgeous and went down a treat. Would highly recommend the tour and tasting

What a beautiful and peaceful setting for a lovely story to be told. Our hosts were great, apologies for not noting names, however visited on 16/02/2020 and were guided around by a lovely lady and the gent on the whisky sampling was also great. Really helpful polite staff who went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our experience. No hard sell of the gift shop and some great information provided by both. My partner is definitely going to look into the Grooms experience for when he needs his suit! Thank you

The tour is quite informative; the tastings are great, it was a small group so it was easy to get detailed answers from the very knowledgable stafff. I loved the Rye!!! I learned a lot, including putting a drop of water (just a drop) in to bring out different flavors. The stained glass windows depict whisky making!

Dear Pearse Lyons Distillery, Question about your two product, Founder’s Choice, it is said is a 12-year-old Single Malt aged in ex-Bourbon barrels from our sister distillery, Town Branch Distillery in Lexington Kentucky, but for the Pearse Five-Year-Old Single Malt, it is said It was the first five-year age statement Irish Whiskey to appear from a new distillery in the whole of Ireland in more than 25 years. Does it mean the Founder's Choice is not made in Ireland? or the Whiskey is not made by Pearse Lyons ?

I am very interested in the tour/tasting, but my traveling companion does not like whiskey. However, she would love to tag along on the tour. Is there a tour without the tasting? If so, how much?
