Popped into this local pub on a busy Friday evening before headed to a wedding the next day, sat in the back part fully kitted out in Irish bric-a-brac and decorated in keeping with a traditional Irish pub. I had 3x pints of fresh Guinness and had a great time, authentic atmosphere, friendly staff and lively locals...me and my group... More

We visited the forge pub and basically never left. The atmosphere was fantastic and it's a really historic pub that's been left in a traditional way and it's the better for it. The staff in the pub are very welcoming and we had the fortune of being welcomed by Claire Sweeney which was great as she knows everyone. If you... More

Not as crowded as the Reel Room. Much larger more comfortable venue. Usually has 2 (very good) musicians as opposed to the Reel Room's multiple rotating talent and range of instruments. Nice pub food to be had until late. A very worthy alternative offering its own unique vibe, often frequented by the locals escaping the tourist crowds.

Called into the Forge after reading reviews on here and it really is a gem of a pub. We started of visiting a few other pubs first just to try them with the intention of ending up at The Forge. We were not disappointed. We were greeted by the owner Joe and made to feel very welcome. The fire was... More

While visiting Donegal we went to a couple of pubs but we finally found the Forge on our way home to our B&B and we are sure glad we did. The owner is a wonderful person that makes you feel right at home and very welcome. It is a beautiful pub with lots of interesting things to look at on... More

Donegal has a few nice Pubs but the Forge tops it all. Very local, good Drinks, live Music, nice talks to local People. We wanted to go there for one or two Guinness. At the end we couldn't count them anymore.

This place is a must! Run by a lovely family and has great atmosphere and superb guinness. Musicians Peter and John made sure we had a good time. Only regret that we didnt find it until our last day in Donegal.

Dropped into the Forge on the recommendation of a waitress in Blas restaurant, it was a great recommendation, we found the owner all of the staff and locals to be very welcoming, listened to some fantastic young local musicians (not the usual tourist music either) and had a great time two nights running. We'll definitely visit the Forge again next... More
