Lovely walk there today
Jun 2021
Glorious sunshine, lush grass and buttercups, walking by the Lee river. Nice flat walk and long enough to feel you've done a good workout.

Beautiful place to go for a walk on a sunny day. You can sit on the grass and observe the river and the birds.

Peaceful river

The river of Cork is very calm. It is nice in the city and outside. I walk along the river for 3 km, very nice!

The setting of the Lee fields is so lovely. The trees and the river make it so peaceful. Would recommend it for a nice walk!

Great place for a stroll

In fair or even great weather it’s wonderful to walk around the lee fields. When it’s raining it easily is flooded and you might need wellis to go there though.

Peaceful

I have walked the pathway by the river here many times. It's beautiful. On quiet days when there are not any pedestrians visible, I have sometimes left the road and cycled along the Lee-fields pathway (I'm not sue if this is allowed, but it was nice)

One of the best spots in Cork city

I was living close to this amazing place. Whenever I need a fresh air I was walking next to river. It is sad most of the people in Cork they don’t visit that often.

A perfect stroll, away from the city hustle and bustle

Just a short walk from the city centre, heading west towards the western suburbs of the city in the Wilton and Bishopstown direction. Your land mark is the very tall County Hall building on the 'Straight Road', or Carrigrohane Road to give it its correct title.
As you pass the KIngsley Hotel, the Lee Fields immediately begin. In essence this is approximately a 2 mile walk along the banks of the River Lee. On your right as you walk away from the city, you will have the River Lee. Watch out for the Canoeists and the Swimmers who brave the cold water all year around for a dip. As you near the end of the fields you will be directed towards the road with a footpath that takes you on a further 10Km route past the Anglers Rest pub and returns parallel to the Straight Road on the Lee Road back towards the city. However you can opt to take this footpath back to the city parallel to the River, but be prepared to encounter Joggers, walkers and cyclists, as this is a very popular route for the Health conscious. Atkins Garden Centre is an ideal coffee stop on the Straight Road. But if you're more cost conscious the Topaz garage has a range of hot and cold foods, teas and coffees with a seating area inside the premises. Enjoy your stroll
