This is the main street of the city of Cork. For the most important street it is very disappointing. The Northern side of the street has a fine statue by by John Foley of Fr Theobald Mathew a Capuchin Friar "The Apostle of Temperance". who died in 1856. While there are some fine department stores.there as you venture towards the... More

Very friendly people all around. Sometimes could be busy but quit calm and relaxing at the same time.

This is in a very central position in cork city with many fine stores. It is close to the English Market and Opera Lane and most all the other shopping areas. In good weather the many buskers provide good entertainment and have many spectators.

Fine wide street with wide pedestrian pavements. Several large department stores including Marks and Spencer and some Irish stores such as Brown Thomas as well. Noted for the statue of Father Matthew at the Northern end.

Interesting and beautiful architecture. A real taste of an Irish city. As we walked from Patrick St. to the river, two twenty-something men who appeared to be under the influence were carrying a 72" television across the bridge and the "leader" was randomly shouting out incoherent remarks to various people on the street, all seemingly good-natured. Very entertaining. Cork in... More
