Love the place. Frank is an absolute gent, the whole family are great craic, lovely people and very welcoming. Visit Cork every year for the Cork v Rovers game with a group of friends, Frank is always very welcoming. The craic in the bar is brilliant, the locals are really nice. Good aul sing song of a Friday night always goes down well. You'll be glad you visited, great pint of Guinness too. One of my favourite pubs in Ireland, let alone Cork. Looking forward to May 26th already.

We've been calling into this bar on an annual basis for the last 3 years. Every time we go there we get a warm welcome from Frank behind the bar. The locals are always friendly and willing to indulge in banter with visitors. The place has got a great feel about it if you like a traditional small Irish pub. It's on the small side so it don't take many folk to build a good atmosphere. This year we were fortunate to be there on a Saturday with live music....fantastic night. If there's no act about just ask Frank to get his guitar out!!!

Some pubs are recognised as a city's local institutions with good reason. Pat Buckley's Pub is on John Redmond Street on the way up to Shandon. It has all the qualities of a great pub. Atmospheric. Great wit and bants. Characterful bar staff. I went in there for the first time recently. There was an argument raging between the customers. Apparently there usually is. They were debating with some passion about the then upcoming BREXIT vote. I was struck, some weeks later when the referendum took place, by how accurately they had foretold some of the consequences of the Leave vote winning.
Go for a visit to Pat Buckley's. Pubs like this are dying our. Go on. Have an experience to tell your grandchildren about.

I walked in for directions in this small Irish pub. I was told I needed (in a nice way) that I had to sing for directions. I can't sing at all! Next thing I know I am singing U2 at the top of my lungs and invited to have a drink with a group of strangers! It was surreal!

What an epic pub experience!!!! We happened upon this pub on a day the city was pretty close to being shut down due to a marathon. Frank, the owner, was so cordial and welcoming. There were two fantastic events that occurred here. The first was to try a Murphy's for the first time and the second was to learn how to pour a Murphy's.
We told our driver that he should share information on this Pub with all his future tours as it was the best Pub experience we had in all of Ireland.
The only problem is we had to go back to Dublin and try to find a Murphy's as we preferred it so much more to Guinness. That was hard to find in the land of Guinness!!!

Just returned from a long rugby weekend in Cork with 16 other choristers from Cor Meibion Morlais staying at the Maldron Hotel which is literally 35 metres from Pat Buckleys bar. We arrived on Thursday morning and as usual we went for a walk about and within 5 minutes we were in the bar. It is what everyones perception of typical Irish bar should be, friendly, small & homely. The welcome we received from mine hosts Frankie & Helen was so friendly we felt and were treated like one of the regulars from the offset.
Allways up for a song we started entertaining the regulars and visitors with our own brand of singing and it wasn't long before the regulars were all coming out with thier own traditional irish songs to entertain us, including Frankie.
Over the course of the weekend we spent many an hour entertaining and being entertained in Buckley's and made many friends among the regulars and the ever present Fergal never ceased to amaze us by allways seemingly being there whatever time we arrived.
Our thanks again to Frankie & Helen for making our weekend so special will post our photos, when we get a chance. See you soon.

We visited Cork a few years ago and popped in here a couple of times on our way back to the hotel. On visiting again I was looking forward to a return pint and boy was I not disappointed! Friday night was Cork's 'Roy Orbison Night' complete with pub singers and an absolutely fantastic atmosphere. We were there until the Monday and visited every night and the friendliness of the locals and the constant laughs and music just really helped to make our break. Look forward to returning again soon.

This wonderful pub was the highlight of our trip to Ireland. We stayed across the street from the pub and visited each night we were there. Frank, the owner, treated us as if we were family. The regulars all had stories to tell and songs to sing.
Pat Buckley’s is the quintessential Irish experience. We were sad to have to leave. If you are lucky enough to pass through Cork be sure to visit Pat Buckley’s. ☘️🍺
