An unbelievable show, even for an Irish person.
Not at all "hyped up" for tuorists.

WARNING: You will crave a pint of Guinness during & after this show!

I went with a French friend to the Pulses of Tradition expecting to be bored but I was very plesently surprised.
The musicians and dancers were very professional and engaged the audience. The combination of poetry, music, dance and video images worked very well, a very enjoyable evening.

My friends and I attended Pulses of Tradition and it was a lovely evening. It is hard to imagine how such a small troupe, just 6 musicians and 4 dancers can produce such great music and dance. I have seen both Riverdance and Lord of the Rings many times. Of course, it is not a fair comparison of a local production to these enormous shows......however, in its own way, Pulses of Tradition is even more enjoyable, The banter of the cast between songs was amusing and fun. The venue, formerly a church is quant. Seating is on pews with cushions, not terribly comfortable and that was the only downside. You absolutely can't beat the reasonable price. Seating is general admission so get there when the doors open to get a seat closer to the stage. We attended the last show of the 2014 season. Don't miss Pulses of Tradition in 2015 if you can!

Overall the show was poor but there could be improvements made. One of the improvements are The show could be improved by allowing audience members to interact with the performers more.

We travel around Ireland quite a bit and always try to catch a typically Irish show in each place we visit. The Abbey theatre was great, Siamsa in Kerry was very entertaining and we've been to Bunratty and Johnny Fox's in Dublin. But this show just stood head and shoulders above everything we've seen before. The authenticity of the music just shone thru and you felt that the show was created to celebrate Irish tradition not just to pull in the tourist. The quality of the musicianship was second to none and the dancing was sublime and beautifully integrated into the overall production. The venue itself, a restored early 18th century church, just added to what was a wonderful experience. If you are anywhere near Cork - this is something you shouldn't miss. Put it on your bucket list!!

This show is delivered with style and humour by a small group that can dance, sing, play and tell stories! I especially enjoyed the history of the Bodhran (Irish drum) and the historical photos that were often shown throughout. Most musicians in Ireland play (and very well) but don't explain a thing. The drumming duels were wonderful, incorporating contemporary rhythms and styles, and then danced brilliantly! It was amazing. Two lithe and lovely females also danced, and there was guitar, violin, keyboard and song. The voice of the female singer was somewhat tenuous, could use some power and projection. It was all presented with a gentle humour that sometimes took a wee while. Perhaps some tightening up on that would be good.
But it was all brilliant and I would see it again. Certainly worth the price and oh yes the search for where it was - not easy to find . . it's down an alley. Have faith.
But caution - it's only on June - September.

Genuine, authentic, wonderful cultural experience. It takes you through the history of Irish music, both song and instrumental. All musicians were clearly very gifted, and it was evident that they enjoyed performing to the audience. Not from cork ourselves however locals were signing along to a few songs.
The dancers were excellent, displaying a variety of dance techniques.
The whole performance lasted just under 2 hours including interval, during which drinks could be purchased.
Recommend a visit, a superb evening

II had meant to write a review of this excellent show last year but now is a timely reminder to book your tickets for this show for summer of 2014! In my humble opinion, it beats Riverdance etc hands down and it is a shame that it is not well advertised! Great for a family night out or if you have any visitor coming to stay this summer!

We weren't sure what to expect when we went to see Pulses of Tradition but it certainly didn't disappoint. An informative narrative with trad music and dance presented in a really enjoyable way. I'd encourage anyone who hasn't seen it to book it.
