I had an excellent experience here. The market is such an interesting place. I loved walking around and seeing all the different products. Of course, things aren’t cheap, but I wasn’t expecting them to be. I highly recommend stopping at Cafe Marius—I had an excellent Irish breakfast there for a reasonable price. The people working were lovely as well. Overall I definitely think the English Market is worth a stop.

Wow! What a fabulous place to visit. The market is bursting with amazing food stalls. Definately go there hungry and grab some lunch or buy some fresh ingredients to take home and cook. We bought filled bagettes from the sandwich stall which were delicious and only 6 euro. There is a great bread stall there too where we bought a fruit soda and an orange and a chocolate cake to take home. If you love food you'll love this place!

The English market is spectacular they have so many fresh food options available. There are some stands where they cook fresh food for you, they also have a restaurant upstairs where everything is sourced from the market. There are many quirky offerings here and they have great gifting options for anyone wanting to bring home a taste of Ireland. Fresh teas, brown bread, jams, meats, cheeses, sweet treats, vegetables, coffee, fish, holistic products are just a few of the immense offerings here! There‘s a lovely tea/coffee shop just outside one of the entrances of the market where they have lots of unique flavour teas and coffees- they can ground the coffee there too I’d highly recommend to seek it out! Lovely even just to walk through

We are big fans of markets, but we were slighty disappointed with Cork's Market. It was a middlijng market overall. Markets that appeal to lower end shoppers are raw and more interesting. I'm thinking here of the City Market in Lima Peru. Markets that appeal to high end shoppers are striking in another way. I'm thinking here of the Victor Hugo Market in Toulouse France. The Cork Market was right in the middle. Nothing wrong here by any means, but it was just not as photogenic as the others I mentioned. To be clear, we came to photograph not to eat.

Not what I expected based on previous reviews. Nothing spectacular or special about it. Its not something I would recommend to a fellow traveller & just finding parking in the City is enough to put anyone off , Many better markets in other towns & Cork was certainly not one of our favourite Cities we visited in Ireland during our 2 week holiday

We always enjoy visiting this market for the great selections of food. We do not live in Cork so we are limited to what we can buy. We visited on a Saturday and it was very very busy and crowded. I did not feel comfortable as most people were not wearing masks. The toilet facilities are very limited. We tried to get a table at the upstairs restaurant but after waiting in line for half an hour we decided to move on.

Went to the English Markets after driving over an hour to find that they were closed. No acknowledgment of it being closed on their website, only stats Sunday as closed and this was Friday.
Shame to see that Aramark run this place too.

We visited this market on our weekend visit to the historic city of cork in June .it’s really great to see markets like this still operate.they have all the produce one can buy.also all goods are fresh ..it’s a great education for the young ones to have.
The best bit for us was the fresh fish traders there.
It’s amazing the choice of fish available.

The public toilets here are terrible. There was only 1 toilet, and the queue took over 15 minutes before we even got inside the loo. If I could leave less than 1 star I would. The place is huge and there is literally only 1 single toilet for the public. And, it's a coin-entry toilet (20c) which isn't obvious until you've already spent 15 minutes in the queue to get there. You'd better hope somebody in the queue has a coin to lend you. The toilet was also dirty, smelly and there was no toilet paper. The whole thing made me so irritable I didn't enjoy the rest of the experience.

We took a walk to find Market Place, where the locals go. Found the fruits and vegetables to be expensive. The chicken was very reasonable and the meats were not too expensive. Very good selection of cheeses and olives. Always interesting to
see what is available in the local market.

Idk. Sorry, I’m from Austria. You should ask someone from Cork. But I would say, yes! 🙂
Hi. Is the market open Easter Monday.

Hi, I cannot be 100% certain, but last year it was closed Easter Sunday and Monday, so I'd imagine this year would be the same.

When's the best time to go (ten, noon, four)? Is it better to go when things are the most lively or when it's a little quieter?

Oh, I have no idea.
We just stopped in Cork on our way from Kilnarey to Dublin.
We got there around noon time (I think). It was crowded on that Wednesday afternoon, but not oppressive.
But I imagine week-ends would be hectic. They have restaurants upstairs and shopping nearby, so I'm sure they stay busy.

Coming here on a cruise for a total of 7 hours. Is this place walking distance to the port? Also willing to take a taxi to explore.

no. the cruise ship normally dock at Cobh which is at least 20 minutes drive. possibly more. some cruise ships lay on coaches to the city and it depends upon drop off point

Are there any types of foods you cannot bring back to the US from Ireland? We were told continuously all through Italy that the sausages and cured meats we bought could be taken back to the states, only to have them confiscated at customs in the US.

Vacuum packed might get them through, but otherwise no chance.
