Had the unfortunate experience of travelling through this bus station recently. The place seems to be a magnet for people hanging about walking around shouting at nothing in particular! Security guy ignoring them and walking opposite way.
If this place has a manager he/she should take a little time to ‘walk the floor’
Lightning either not working or flicking.
A total shambles.
This is Irelands second city!!

Unlike some other bus stations (*ahem Tralee Killarney ahem*) you can feel reasonably safe. Obviously you get the usual "interesting" people that you find on public transport but no winos or chain smokers leaning into you. And no heroin users hassling you like the Luas stops in Dublin. There's a nice place selling fancy but not over priced coffee sandwiches etc (puccino's?) The ticket office has been closed for at least two years but the travel office is open and seems to be the same thing... nice friendly people in there. The big problem is the toilet, up a xzillion stairs and then you need to pay 20 cents to get in. You can go for free at the adjacent Merchants Quay shopping centre just pretend you're going shopping (long queues even for the gents).

I use the bus from Macroom to Cork, last year the price for an adult ticket was 5 euros, now (14.06.2023) the price = 12 euros. If last time you paid 10 euros for a round trip, now you pay a 24 euros! I propose to gather for a legal protest and come out with posters about lower fares. I, like many self-respecting users, will not tolerate such disgusting behaviour from the "expressway”!

Every day without fail the 214 is cancelled MULTIPLE times a day, now that schools and colleges are open the 214 still manages to not show up when needed!! I am sick S*** of it! Tell me why is cancelled at 8 o clock in the morning with multiple people waiting for it’s arrival when it’s just standing there in one bus stop not moving?? I am f****** furious and I do not want to give out to the bus drivers. FIX YOUR SH**

Tip for anyone planning to go to Kinsale by bus. DO NOT use the bus stop near the bus station!
The Kinsale bus starts it’s journey behind the main railway station. There is only one
Bus an hour and it is a heavily used service. The bus station is the 1st stop after the train station and only 4 or 5 people were able to board. All other stops in Cork were then ignored as the bus was full.
The same applies to the return journey. Not everyone wanting to use the bus were able to board as bus was full.

If I could give this zero stars I would. My bus was overbooked so I couldn’t get on, tried to get on another bus and was told to get off as I had a bottle of water (it is 23 degrees and I didn’t plan on passing out) after an hour of waiting the next bus I finally got on. The bus driver stopped in the middle of the road in killeagh, I assumed he was in traffic so didn’t get off but was shouted at and asked “if I even knew where killeagh was”. Then when I asked to get the small backpack out of the boot he started shouting at me to hurry up asking if I was stupid (I didn’t even want to put my bag in the boot but the bus driver made me). After I got off the bus two girls tried to flag it down at the bus stop (where it is meant to stop) and he sped straight past. These people are rude and completely unorganised. Do not recommend. Don’t waste your time.

Only used it once and saw cameras in the ladies. They seemed to be facing away from the cubicles but still made me uncomfortable.

This is a terrible place. For the main Bus Terminal in the second largest city in Ireland it is just not acceptable. I believe that the only way that it me brought up to the standards of the 21st Century is to knock it down and start from scratch.

Bus station itself is generally a mess, but the toilets are the worst I’ve ever experienced.
They haven’t seen a scrubbing in 20 years by the looks of things. It was so bad, I didn’t even want to lift the toilet sit with my shoe.
The worst part of it all is that they make you pay 20 cent to enter?!
One would assume that this would be going toward maintaining the toilets, but this is absolutely not the case.
If you’re here, simply duck under or hop over the gate. Never, ever pay to enter.
Your money is going nowhere.
