Now in its 10th successful year of business Ennis Walking Tours is an exciting tourism initiative which runs lively and entertaining guided walking tours through the winding streets of the medieval town of Ennis in Co Clare.Jane - the experienced local guide - leads you through the atmospheric winding streets and "bow-ways" of the town, while revealing the intriguing characters and stories that shaped its history. Hear about the mythology and legends of the town - from banshees to Biddy Early (the magical lady of Clare who was tried for witchcraft in Ennis). Hear tales of murders and hangings, famine and poverty, rebellions and riots and discover how the most powerful men from Irelands past - amongst them Daniel O'Connell, Eamon de Valera and Charles Stewart Parnell were closely linked to the town. There is an option to finish the tour in the comfortable setting of a local pub and learn more about Clare's unique contribution to the traditional Irish music scene. In addition to this tour Jane is also running summer evening Haunted History Tours - come join us for fun and chills on a spine tingling journey as we unlock the secrets of medieval Ennis!

Group of 7 people, we took the tour in the second week of October. We were lucky to be the only ones there at 11:00 am on a Monday. Jane showed up and did a quick talk about the history of Ennis and then began a hour+ walk around Ennis. Jane was fully knowledgeable of the history and lore of... More

We attended this tour today and Jane was great. Covered a good amount of territory 75 minutes, but it wasn't rushed and was appropriately thorough. It was nice to get a better lay of the land and the history of Ennis. Definitely recommended!

Very glad I did the walking tour of Ennis with Jane O'Brien. Full of interesting facts and historical perspective, it was a great way to learn about the town, especially the narrow streets and lanes full of history you'd never find if left to your own devices, even for someone like me who lives close to Ennis! I would highly... More

1 hour plus informative tour of the lovely town of Ennis. Jane's knowledge of the town was extraordinary and her love of her town was evident. Not hurried, and we felt as if we lived in the era when the town bustled and rushed through the narrow streets. Highly recommended. We were a group from Wales and all enjoyed the... More

Wow, i didn't expect to find much in this little town of Ennis. But The lady that does this one hour tour is great! For a few euros, you got a lot more then your money's worth! She took us to all the key sites in the main part of town, explained the history of the last 500+ years and... More

1+ hour tour with Jane yesterday was well worth 10 euros as we made our way through the maze of narrow streets in Ennis. Jane gave us good background to the town and its significance in Irish history. Lots of interesting anecdotes. Easy paced. Thanks Jane.

Jane O'Brien narrates the history of Ennis at a leisurely pace as you walk around town. It is a good introduction and gives you an appreciation for the this medieval town which retains the footprint of its earliest incarnation.
