It is absolutely amazing that this complex structure was constructed so many years ago. There is a board explaining the construction abd use of this building. You can actually imagine how life was like for the inhabitants. The views from this site are also stunning..

    Well worth a visit.
Small car park. Already full this early in the season. Two coaches arrived.. The broch is splendidly situated and well worth the visit. There is also a small exhibition which is informative and significant effort has been made there. This is a community run site supported by voluntary donations. Please donate. We did not visit the nearby shop.

    Stunning
Absolutely incredible. Shame the sight doesn’t have a proper visitor centre. The local representatives must work with central government to improve and protect this treasure. Please don’t forget to donate using the QR code so future generations can behold our ancient past.

Still covered very heavily in scaffold. While there is no obscuring fabric covering the broch, the extensive scaffold does rather diminish the appearance. The visitor exhibition room was closed when I visited. It's free to visit, so cannot complain too much. Visit Scotland office in Stornoway told me it will be a while before scaffold is removed

Currently covered in Scaffolding and you can't get into it. However, you can still see the two walls and make out the steps that exist between them. Hence you get a better appreciation of how it's constructed and internal size. Visitor cabin (not sure what else to call it ?) looked like it has not been open for ages so not a lot of information on site.

There was easy parking and a toilet. There is a short walk up to the brochure. There is an interesting exhibition explaining the broths and their structure and history. The stone building is surprisingly intact given its history and age. The views around are great too

Our tour stopped here and I went to take a look thinking "who cares about a ruined tower" but I was actually quite impressed. It had multiple levels, and two "layers" and I was really intriqued by how sophisticated it was for the time it was built. There are also lovely views of the surrounding area and if you're there in late summer, Heather flowers are everywhere. If you like architecture and history, it is worth a stop.

This broch is right at my family home of Carloway. I have visited it many times. It was used as a defensive residence for important tribal leaders and dates from the iron Age. it was still in occupied as late as the 19th Century. It is well worth a visit.

Carloway's the first broch I've ever visited - and it's one of the best preserved ones, too! It's simply breathtaking in its massiveness, and you can well imagine how the old Celts lived in a place like this about 2000 years ago. Unfortunately, it can't be entered at the moment due to some obscure 'risk', but I do hope that issue will be fixed soon, so that people will get the whole experience of actually standing IN a Celtic broch again; but even from the outside, it's a fantastic view.

Carloway Broch shows how houses were once built and give a brilliant view back in time. At the time of our visit the Broch itself was closed for repair works but you can still view the unique construction with a wide cavity wall and relatively small living space centrally. Well worth a visit.
