The power of the ocean pounding into the rocks over time has created magnificent formations. There’s something so mesmerizing about the water. Fortunate to have had some sun to highlight the beautiful hues in the water. A bit windy but to be expected
Nice loos if needed too.

We walked on the coastal path from the Eoropie Dunes car park along to the lighthouse. It was a stunning walk with the most incredible scenery, would 100% recommend - it was about 1 hour there and 1 hour return and worth every minute. The lighthouse was voted the windiest place in the UK, which we can definitely vouch for. We seen puffins & the most beautiful wildlife which was such a pleasure.

Stunning scenery. If you like rocky coastline, this is the place to be on Lewis. You can walk around for different viewpoints and the scenery is gorgeous no matter which way you turn. If you like rugged views and jagged cliffs and rocks, I highly recommend it here.

Visited here as part of a road trip with my son, whilst staying 2 nights at Stornoway. It turned out to be a perfect sunny day and we spent about an hour spotting seals bobbing their heads in the ocean below. Bring binoculars, as the cliffs are very high. On a wet day this would prove a remote spot to visit and perhaps much less appealing. There is a sandy cove you pass on the right just before entering the property, which was worth a visit watching the seabirds nesting and feeding in the area. Also close by is Eoropie Dunes, which is also worth a visit.

We had a lovely time up here at the lighthouse. As previous people have said the scenery is just stunning up here and well worth a visit. We didn’t stay long as we have young children and after initially waking around and reading the information boards there were very steep cliffs, so not somewhere to stop and play!

We drove up from Stornaway to see the cliffs near the lighthouse; sure glad we did. Dramatic. Scenic. After we parked in the lot (space for about 10 cars), we walked a short distance north to edge if the cliffs; must have spent a half hour just gazing. Then we walked counter-clockwise around the lighthouse and walked west up a gentle hill; more gazing. Lucky for us, the sun was out and just enough clouds were in the sky to add interest to our photos. As we drove away, we stopped 0.4 miles from the lighthouse at Port Stoth; just enough space for 2-3 cars. We parked and walked the path down to the water; white sandy beach in a narrow rocky cove. More interesting photos.

Wow, this place is amazing! The lighthouse is not the attraction, it is the landscape and tiny beach that it stands beside. We thought this would be a quick stop but it was so awesome we stayed for an hour or more and most of our pictures of the Outer Hebrides is from this place

Supposed to be the windiest place in the UK - we came on the hottest calmest day of September 2021. Walked from the Harbour at Port of Ness to the lighthouse and back. Nice 6 miles round trip. Glorious sunshine and blue skies. We popped down to the lovely beach near the light house carpark. Skimmed stones. No toilets, no facilities - and the info sign could do with the repair as it's been weathered/ vandalised.

Overall, we had very good luck with weather during our trip June/July. Our luck ran out the day we had planned to drive around Lewis. I talked my group into keeping with the plan, I mean you've got to just go with the weather in Scotland. While it would've been nice to have had a nice sunny day, it was still breathtaking on a windy and rainy one. I found myself in awe of the landscapes many, many times in Scotland and this was no exception. The water closets were locked when we were there, so we had to find a public restroom in town.

We were on very wet, windy and rain soaked morning in June. In addition to the appreciating the lighthouse, this vantage point really gives you a good indication of the power of nature. I can imagine the views from here on a sunny day being amazing.

è possibile arrivare con la macchina al faro di Butt, oppure quanto c'è da camminare dalla Tea Room al faro?
grazie!
