Great place to visit

Great to visit, the history, the scenery. Great walks close by and a lovely museum indoors. visited this building in the late `70s when it was a condemned building. seriously good.

We visited for a dog walk around the country park which was lovely and afterwards we felt peckish so stopped at the oaks restaurant for some food. The coffee tastes cheap, and tea was weak, we had to go back and ask for 2 teabags even though we had payed for a pot of tea for 2 people. The sandwiches... More

Just last week I visited the hunting lodge with an adult learning group I'm in. We went on a guided tour which was £3.50 a head and our helpful guide was called Tom. It is set in a lovely location with a view of the Hamilton Mausoleum, as there is a connection between the two. The staff were very friendly,... More

We visited Chatelherault as part of an organised outing, meeting Tom, the tour guide, in the reception area for him to start the tour. The tour began with Tom showing us a quick 10 minute DVD of Chatelherault before the renovation project started in the late 1970’s. The building had been ready for demolition but thankfully the council of the... More

If you are interested in local history or enjoy researching Hamilton Palace and the Dukes of Hamilton, this place is definitely worth a visit. The rooms are full of great information, lovely gardens, there are fantastic walks and a good play area for children. There is also a café on site - nice looking produce but unfortunately last time I... More

Very overpriced cafe type restaurant. Definately for a bistro in a park they charge over the top prices. Food nothing special but staff are friendly.

Staying at the nearby Avonbridge Hotel and have an afternoon free, Chatelherault was recommended to me by the staff as a beautiful park to walk in and an interesting old house which was been recently reopened to the public and a lovely coffee shop within the building. Would strong recommend to anyone visiting the area to look in on.

Good playpark area. Parking right beside it. Short walk up to tearoom and display centre. Very educational. Would recommend for a days outing.

Me and my 5year old son here. Great place make sure you have wellies on it can get muddy but it's a great adventure. There is many walking paths and bridges and take some small bets you may catch some fish as well if you are lucky.
