Where the Open started! Lovely course, quite forgiving for wayward drives. Fantastic dinner. The original first hole is long! The current first hole is daunting- aim left !

While I've enjoyed other Scottish links courses more - it is fun to play the course that was the original site of the British Open (simply called The Open by locals). Like many of what I call the "factory" Scottish golf courses - factory being a reference to the assembly-line like way some courses pump through the volume of guest... More

Thank you for your review and I am glad to hear that you had fun playing Prestwick. I have investigated your comment about your caddie appearing intoxicated and checking his phone. He was not checking sports scores but for messages from home where there was an illness. Having said that he should have told you that at the start of... More

A ver historic place to play. Designed by Old Tom Morris who was also the pro here for over a decade. The first 11 Open Championships were held here. Absolutely enjoyable staff and a very fun course to play. Certainly should be on your list.

This course is a must play for any golfer with any sense of history of the game and any player who wants to experience true links golf. A course which is largely unchanged for over 100 years, the challenge provides blind shots, steeply sloping greens, cavernous bunkers and a playing surface in excellent condition which, all in all, provides the... Great course, nice walk, decent challenge in the wind always in good order. Decent views classic links course. Played a fair few times. I have very low handicap and it really is an entertaining course. Keep it on the fairway and make sure you have your putting in order before you tee off

Thanks Gordon K for your review - course is in great condition and with no temp greens makes for an enjoyable experience. The 12th Hole - Wall - is a very tricky Par 5 at this time of year with the wind blowing but can be very rewarding too. We look forward to welcoming you back to Prestwick Golf Club! More

I waited on the first tee for the sun to rise. What the sun brought was possibly one my best golfing experiences. The course even at this time was in superb condition. I wish I could of played slightly warmer day but you can't have everything. The staff at the course very friendly extremely helpful. Made you feel very welcome.... More

Delighted you enjoyed your day and the weather was kind too! The 17th - Alps - is the original 2nd hole from 1851 and the oldest existing hole in championship golf. Not an easy one and I hope you did not find yourself in the Sahara bunker. We look forward to welcoming you back to Prestwick Golf Club. More

This was my second time to be fortunate enough to play at the Home of The Open. Course was in great shape. The greens were true and quick. The weather was great which only added to the wonderful time spent on the course. The clubhouse staff and starter very friendly and welcoming. Pro shop staff were helpful and knowledgeable and... One of the oldest golf courses in the world and where the first Open was held. Some holes are still much the same as they were played in 1851. This is one of the must play courses for all golfers, but it requires distance and accuracy as every shot must be positioned carefully. There is a casual dress restaurant upstairs... More

The course is probably just four star , too many blind shots for the modern player, but the history and overall ambience of the place deserves five stars without doubt!
