No longer does tours?
Sep 2018 • Friends
We had a strange experience at Strathearn Distillery today.
The whisky guide book (pub 2016) listed a couple of tours, and the website boasts a tasting experience of 8 different spirits including gins and new make malt.

Nobody was answering their phone to take a booking but we decided to swing by anyway and see if they could fit us in.

It took a while for us to find the distillery, it’s down an unmarked single track road, turn left at the holiday cottages. It shares a building with “Blue Sky” which is an outfit that do corporate training days or somesuch.

On arrival, the guy said “we don’t do tours”.
Not “we don’t do tours anymore” - not “sorry we stopped those” - the guy just seemed confused.

If you search around, there are reviews by people who have been before and from a local Perth publication raving about their gin experiences. So I don’t know what the story is there. But the guy was SUPER nice and showed us around anyway, him and the distillers were happy to answer all our questions. So although we didn’t get the tasting experience or a full tour, it was cool to see and they were great guys.

Gin experience
Sep 2016 • Friends
What a fantastic day! Stuart, ably assisted by Abby, was a fantastic host. He is so passionate about the distillery and what they do that you can't help but enjoy the experience...although the gin tasting does help! Very interesting and informative. And to cap it all you leave with your own personalised gin...although there is no guarantee that it will be as good as those sampled on the day. Loved every minute of the experience and will recommend to others. Thanks Stuart.

Gin experience a great way to spend an afternoon

The half day gin experience certainly doesn't disappoint. I wasn't sure what to expect and was aware that there are other Scottish distilleries doing this at a much lower price. It was superb, perfect format, very personal and full of lovely touches which made it feel very special. Highly recommended.

Gin experience was amazing
Jan 2016 • Friends
Attended the 4.5hr gin tasting experience with my girlfriend and her family. It was ridiculously good! Tasted an array of small batch gins and different tonics. Also made a couple of cocktails and got all my gin related questions answered. Also got to take home a bottle of gin that I flavoured with all the botanicals on offer.
You need to stay around the distillery as there is no chance you'll be able to drive home!
It's a small farm distillery. So if you're interested to see the craft of distilling and not a factory (all the equipment is in one room of a Steading) then definitely book one of the tours. It's off the main road with no signage - given the only people you'll bump into during the week are busy distilling i wouldn't just turn up for a "tour".
I highly recommend one of the experiences here even if you've been on a distillery tour before. I'm planning on heading back for the whisky making course!

Great day out

Our tour party of 6 had a fabulous afternoon at Strathern distillery. David is very passionate about his whisky and gin making, very intersting and informative tour. Best bit was the copious amounts of gin we got to taste/drink.
Only advice would be to get a taxi there.

Gin & Whisky Experience Days
Oct 2013 • Friends
This farm based distillery based just outside Perth run wonderful 2 hour "Insider Tours" - an in depth way to see the distilling process, lots of time to taste the hand crafted gins and new make spirit which is so like whisky - just gotta wait another couple of years before it's legally whisky! But the Experience Days (and half day gin one) where you can get hands on are brilliant fun!
