A well preserved castle on Perth. Just 5£ entrance fee but I think it's money well spend.
The castle has a great history and the information give to you is good.
Most definitely worth a visit if you are nearby.
Its such a quiet place out the way. Really enjoyed our visit here. The kids loved exploring the castle and finding out what life was like there. And some cartwheeling on the grass outside of course.

Had a great afternoon here (helpped by good weather).

This castle, which is off the beaten track, is set in a beautiful location and is an interesting find. It's well worth the effort to visit and is quite historical and has lots of information on the background to the local area. The only downside...More
Elcho castle is definitely worth a visit! It has a lovely view of Loch Tay and beautiful surroundings. The apple orchard is fun and the kids enjoyed wearing the period costumes as they walked through the castle sweeping the dirt floors. Very nice day out!
Rhynd is very small not even a village! and you would be at least 1 hr from Edinburgh.
Edinburgh Airport is closest but accessing the location requires a car
Perth is the closest main centre for accommodation etc.
