A well preserved castle on Perth. Just 5£ entrance fee but I think it's money well spend. The castle has a great history and the information give to you is good. Most definitely worth a visit if you are nearby.

Its such a quiet place out the way. Really enjoyed our visit here. The kids loved exploring the castle and finding out what life was like there. And some cartwheeling on the grass outside of course. The lovely lady was so helpful and advised us...More

A beautiful example of a large Renaissance tower house complete with orchard and gorgeous views of the River Tay. Make sure you climb to the top for a fantastic view of the river valley.

Elcho Castle is lovely and has a fantastic panoramic view at the top of the castle. We had fun exploring the castle and walking around the grounds. A great stop to break up the drive.

Elcho Castle was a delightful stop in a long drive from Edinburgh to Loch Ness. We love exploring ruined castles, and this one was a perfect place to climb the towers, turrets, and walls and imagine what life was like in a different age. Great...More

Elcho castle is definitely worth a visit! It has a lovely view of Loch Tay and beautiful surroundings. The apple orchard is fun and the kids enjoyed wearing the period costumes as they walked through the castle sweeping the dirt floors. Very nice day out!

The Historic environment scotland website says that only assistance dogs are allowed. I assume that to be guide dogs and hearing dogs etc.

Rhynd is very small not even a village! and you would be at least 1 hr from Edinburgh. Edinburgh Airport is closest but accessing the location requires a car Perth is the closest main centre for accommodation etc.
