This historic church has become famous as the scene of the witchcraft trial in Outlander, but it has a lot more to offer. Huge thanks to Dr Tristram Clarke, Chairman of Historic Churches Scotland, who gave our group a fascinating guided tour. It was eerie to look at the field beyond the graveyard and know that the bodies of Covenanters lay buried somewhere beneath. A most enjoyable visit.

We live not far away, and visit occasionally, please note I live next door to' Almondbank and Tibbermore Church' Which is not this church but a 19th Century one about 3 miles away. I have had Germans and Italians and French people wandering about my drive way looking baffled.. It seems someone in Perth continually gives them directions to the 'wrong' church .. However I redirect them as best I can.. Also not many seem to realise that behind the church (The 'Outlander one' )was the site of the battle of Tibbermore (Or Tippermuir) - On Sunday 1st September 1644, the Marquis of Montrose, leading a Royalist force of 2,700 men, encountered a Convenanter army of 7,000 infantry with 700 cavalry and 9 cannon under Lord Elcho, drawn up at Tippermuir (Tibbermore). The Covenanters were soon over-run, and estimates of the casualties varied between several hundred and two thousand. The wounded were tended in the Churchyard according to local legend. So the site was famous 100 years before the 'Outlander period.' and interesting to those into Scottish History.

It’s worth it when you are around Perth anyway and when you are an outlander fan. It’s a cute tranquil church with a nice grave very old grave yard. Wouldn’t expect it there as it’s quite remote. Watch out and don’t follow the map needle but the description. It’s about 15 minutes outside town in the west between then the A9 and A85. For google maps type in Tibbermore parish Kirk.

My daughter was over-the-moon happy to start our Outlander step-retracing here. This is a beautiful church, and my daughter loved recreating some scenes! They have a nice wall of pictures and descriptions as you walk in. Just a note that there is no bathroom, but, if you go to the stop sign down just a bit and turn left, there's a great coffee shop/farm type market (with a little playground for kids and a hairy cooooo) where one can cover all their bases before heading on to the next stop!

Apparently featured in some TV programme caled 'Outlander' so it gets lots of visitors. It is no longer an active church but is looked after by the 'Historic Churches Scotland' and is undergoing major expensive repairs as it is suffering from damp. Very welcoming volunteers and it serves as a venue for open doors day, arts exhibitions, etc. Many interesting graves and an outstanding one at the west side featuring all the 'tools' of the curling game carved splendidly.

I have visited this church both when it was open and closed.
It is a lovely church and open to visitors and 'Outlander Fans' during the day.
Worth a visit if you are passing.

Lovely church. Just a bonus it was used for outlander as the witch trial. It was open when we went early evening so reenacted outlander scenes lol.

We came here on our Outlander Tour. It's a lot of fun to see where some of the scene in the show were shot. It's also a nice little church with no crowds where photography is allowed.

We're Outlander fans, so this was a must-see. When we went on a Tuesday afternoon in June, the church was open and free, and photos are allowed, so what's not to like?

Coming out of Perth we headed to Gloagburn for lunch on the way back we turned right at the Tibbermore Crossroads and came across this attractive Church and Graveyard . All the church doors were open and we were able to take photos and read about the Outlander filming . We could actually remember seeing this church on the series . The church was built in 1632 extensively rebuilt in 1789 to designs by James Stobie the factor of the Duke of Atholl .It has undergone many alterations since and closed in 2001
Scottish Redundant Churches Trust has taken over the maintenance and fabric of the church
