We have visited Ayrshire to play Golf previously , but this time Western Gailes was included on our itinerary.
It was by far the best decision we had ever made. This is a magnificent course, in pristine condition. The welcome we received from the moment we entered the clubhouse to the second we left was second to none. The staff in the bar couldn’t have done anymore. The man at registration gave us everything we needed to know and do.
The course however was an even greater star and reason to visit.
Everything about it was magnificent, every hole a pleasure to play, the views, broody light, sound of the waves hitting the beach and it really was like playing millionaire’s golf groups in front and behind but always 2-3 holes away. It was just the best course we’ve played and it’s a place that will always call us back and we’ll definitely return. You pay for what you get if you are going to this wonderful golfing area do not hesitate to include this Gem. You will not regret it and it will definitely call you back.

Our first golf course on our golf trip and wow what a course.
The weather was beautiful so obviously the course was playing easier and a great course with some beautiful hole designs.
We played off the yellow tees and it was a fair test, the greens were a bit hairy but im sure its due to the time of year however you wont be disappointed to play this course.
Afterwards we settled in to the cosy clubhouse bar and enjoyed great service and thankyou to the bar staff who made sure we had full glasses whenever we looked in their direction.
It took about 15 minutes to reach the course from the Carlton Hotel in Prestwick.
Would strongly recommend you include this course if arranging a golf trip.

Arrived after a 5 hour drive from Sheffield and this wonderful golf course didn't disappoint . Its a real test of golf on a superb Scottish links course with sensational views of the Ayrshire coast line. Bar area, staff and excellent and this course is full of history . We had a starter on the first tee offering tips and advice on how to plot the best route around the beautiful Scottish golf course.

Nice clubhouse but that's about it. Blind shots, poor markings, unfriendly staff. There are better courses in the area such as glasgow gailes and dundonalld. Not worth the steep greens fee plus the caddy fee (the course is so blind and difficult you'll need a fore caddy as well). Don't play it unless you are prepared to lose at least 6 balls and wonder why the yardage book tells you nothing of value. Tough courses are fine. This one is punitive on your game and your wallet.

We enjoyed a lovely game here, the course is superb as is its condition. There is a lovely ladies locker room and lounge. Ladies are welcome in the bar and the food is very good and reasonably priced. Hopefully they'll enter the 21st century and allow women and juniors to become members.

Although not as well know as Royal Troon and Turnberry, Western Gailes is every bit a good as the aforementioned and considerably less money to play. It's a very well laid out course and is a delight to walk. The short par five 6th is a world class hole and not because I birdied it. Whatever you do, stay out of the bunkers, they are brutal. Make arrangements well in advance of your visit. Lunch is included with your round of golf as well as a very informative tour of the club house. Nearby is Dundonald Links which is a wonderful new course.

Visited for the first time in years on my annual UK golf trip.
Despite very dry summer, very good condition. Warm welcome.
Stretch from #5 through 14 among the best in Links golf.
Don't miss it.

This is a must play golf course, classic links, one of the best if not the best I have played in Scotland. Very welcoming, staff and members, everything you expect is quality, especially food and showers! Now the course, greens, fast but not too fast, fairways in excellent condition, overall presentation, tees and course superb. Every hole a real challenge, watch the bunkers from the tee, we played the whites, a real test with a fair wind as course is out and back. All the par threes are excellent, I would definitely recommend this club to all real links golf lovers.
