The Elgin museum is a fantastic place to while away an hour or so. It's not a museum on any one particular topic or theme but rather a collection of different items discovered in the area, so everything from fossils, to books, coins, bits of...More

A couple of my friends and I heard some good stuff about our local museum, and since none of us had ever been before, we thought we would have a quick look around and there was tonnes of cool stuff.

Welcoming, knowledgeable staff willing to give their experience and share their knowledge but, also a great place to wander around on your own. Changing exhibits on top floor make return visits interesting.

The museum had helpful staff and is free. There is a good selection of local and general Scottish artefacts with good explanations. The fossils are particularly good. The range is from pre history to relatively modern. Military stuff up stairs. No free parking nearby.
