Many people believe that this brooding lake in Northern Scotland, 21 square miles in size at an average depth of 800 feet, could certainly hide a large dinosaur-like "monster," the lake's long-time and elusive resident.

Whether or not you believe in monsters, you can't help but wonder what this body of water could hide. One minute it is bright and calm and the next dark and foreboding. It definitely has an atmosphere about it.

It's a fabulous part of the countryside, there's not really much to say. It's wonderfully scenic, and there are actually plenty of possible activities in the area if you're hoping to go on the water itself - including cruises and the like. I personally took a cruise (with Jacobite Cruises) and it was great to get out on the water... More

What a beautiful place this is. Absolutely stunning to say the least. Hunting the Loch Ness monster will be put further down your list and you just take in the serenity and atmosphere that is on offer here. Head out on a hike and take a moment to stand there and listen to the peaceful sounds of Loch Ness

No real reason to visit, but nice to drive by and stop at en route to Inverness. Urquhart Castle may be worth a look at, too. Weather was mixed but created its own beauty.

We drove from Edinburgh through the highlands to Loch Ness it is a beautiful drive and well worth the trip. We saw Ben Nevis the tallest peak in the U.K. and amazing countryside. There are lots of places to stop and take pictures and stretch your legs along the drive.

Of course no one was expecting to see Nessie, but yes to see a beautiful landscape, different sites for stopping and take photos among other things we do while travelling. What we saw, however, was a terrible road from Fort William, very narrow and with too many dangerouys curves, very few places to rest or take a decent meal, and... More

The lake is very nice and gigantic. We opted for a small cruise (1 hour) to get a better picture and to have a view on the ruins Urquhart Castle. Sailor/Guide was very sympathetic and we enjoyed a very good time

Even if you combine the contents of all the lakes in England AND Wales, Loch Ness still holds more water! It is the home to the Loch Ness Monster and if you’re lucky you might catch a glimpse of her!

I have always wanted to visit Loch Ness and I am so glad I got the opportunity to do so. The entire place is beautiful with stunning scenery. The location is well kept with no litter in site. You are able to go on a one hour boat tour (what I did) for £13 - this could be a different... More

Always beautiful to go back to the Highlands, Inverness area and Loch Ness. It's one of the largest lake in the UK, just after loch Lomond I think. It's the deepest lake in the UK, very famous for the tale of the monster but it's a stunning place where to stay. You can cross the lake by the many organised... More
