The Kyle line has long been recognised and is marketed as a beautiful scenic rail route and along with the West Highland line is recognised as one of Britains "must see" railway routes. The scenery is spectacular with mountains, lochs, and the final coastal section carved out of the cliffs, to arrive at a picturesque little port. The problem is... More

We got the train into inverness. It is a very scenic train ride but you need to make sure that you sit on the left to get the best views from kyle of Lochalsh. The train was not busy either way which made for a comfortable journey. There was a catering trolley on the way to Inverness which was reasonably... More

This certainly deserves to be part of Scotrail's "Great Scenic Rail Journeys"; the view just gets more and more stunning towards the end. As Kyle of Lochalsh was a gateway to the Isle of Skye, I combined this with a tour around Skye by "Skye Tours" (highly recommended); one of the few tours that allow you to select a train... More

We caught this from Dingwall to Kyle of Lochalsh. The train journey was picturesque & train comfortable, however anyone hoping to find anywhere to eat in the Kyle will be disappointed. It is a complete dump, there was 1 hotel, a fish & chip shop & a Co-op. We had 1 & a half hours to kill time before our... More

We stopped in the station yard to overnight while on the Royal Scotsman Classic Journey. We alighted from the train and had cocktails on the station platform overlooking the Isle of Skye while jellyfish were floating by in the water of the Loch below. The Kyle is the gateway to the Isle of Skye. The actual train journey from Inverness... More

Where do you start with this experience? Well at Kyle of Lochalsh looking over to Skye where there is a friends of the Kyle line shop and exhibition very well done indeed they sell whisky and beer for the trip as well. On the train it's comfortable, the toilets were clean and there was a refreshment trolley as well. The... More

The journey from Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh is slow and meandering in the most appealing way. The scenery changes constantly from sea, to wilderness, to thick vegetation, passed rivers, waterfalls, lochs, inlets and mountains. It is the most beautiful and relaxing way to travel West.

The trip from Kyle to Inverness on board Scotrail train was scenic and enjoyable. Seeing places for the first time, not remembering the journey from years ago. Very pleasant ticket conductor and attendant serving the refreshments. Mustn't forget the good train driver. Thank you Scot Rail for an enjoyable scenic trip to the Highland Capital, even although it was a... More

A delightful way to see parts of beautiful Scotland. The journey shows many facets of the differing countryside as you travel to Kyle. You must experience the stress free method of travel and enjoy the great views.
