A good road leads from the A82 Fort William to this visitor centre and large car park, which is ideally positioned for walkers tackling Ben Nevis.
We arrived at around 8am on a Saturday and the car park was filling steadily. The car park is pay and display (£6/day) but only one of the two machines was working so there was a long queue to get a ticket. The machines are complicated to operate and after queuing for about 15 mins the machine wouldn't accept my mastercard debit card.
It was very hit and miss - others had similar issues with their cards not being accepted. Cash seemed to be the way to go. Unfortunately we didn't have the cash, but we were told that you could pay in the visitor centre.
As another reviewer has already mentioned - the opening hours of the visitor centre is not geared to supporting the time that it takes to climb Ben Nevis. It doesn't open until 8.30am, so we had to delay the start of our walk in order to purchase a ticket for the parking. When we returned the visitor centre was closed.

We arrived to Fort William just day before we climbed Ben Nevis as we wanted to take advantage of stable weather. On our arrival early morning to carpark we met Kieran who was about to open the visitor center. After a nice chat we head to the summit.
When we got back he prepared a lovely handmade leaflet with local attraction must see around the area. We were simply amazed as we never experienced such a customer service!
Kieran if you read this, I have a message to you and all visitors: You are the Best!

We climbed Ben Nevis on a gorgeous sunny day in September and on the way down, came across a guy who'd hurt his ankle. He was slowly making his way down so I offered him my poles to make it easier and he was going to leave them at the visitor centre for me to collect the following day. Sadly he didn't but I felt happy knowing I'd helped. The guy at the visitor centre (Kieran) who had been keeping an eye out for them being dropped off for me was an absolute delight. He also sent me a note with an order and a very kind gesture back in October. Kieran, I was tidying up today and reread your note - it made me smile and made a very ordinary rainy Saturday amidst lockdown so much better. Its pride of place on our notice board in the kitchen. You made my Ben Nevis climb even more memorable. Thank you so much - the visitors centre must be so proud to have you on their team. #payitforward

I’m sure it’s fantastic but we set off at 8.30am to climb at our leisure and didn’t waste time in the centre. We’d intended to buy a couple of souvenirs on our way back but were amazed to return at 4.30 (yes! I took ages but I enjoyed it!) and find everything closed up, including toilets being locked up. Possibly staffing issues but surely it should be open until at least 6pm - there were still hundreds of people behind us on the path down. Lost income, we think.

Really friendly staff and amazing advice from Kieran. Not only did he talk to us before opening the centre and provided info on the weather forecast- so useful when climbing Ben Nevis, but also created a full booklet of things to do in the area for us for our stay!!!! How great is that?!? It was so sweet and useful. We loved the content and the actual recommendations. Thank you Kieran. The world needs more people like you!

A lovely visitors centre with friendly staff, well stocked shop and info display. However, all the toilets except one disabled loo, closed at 4pm. So there was a long queue for the loo when we, (and a lot of other visitors!), finally finished the long walk up and down Ben Nevis. Other than that, great.

We called in at the visitor centre this morning to get some information on a short walk as seen on the walkhighlands website.
The member of staff on the desk (dark hair and untidily dressed ) was so unhelpful . She looked at me as if she had no idea what I was talking about and didn't really work there.
There was no leaflet unless I paid a pound and when I asked if it was waymarked she said not really but it's quite simple follow the river ,cross the road and follow the track into the forest and back to the centre .
For the benefit of our visitors from overseas if not for us Brits could the staff try a bit harder , and smile !

On the road from Fort Williams, we arrived to Glen Nevis Visitor Center, in order to take some information about Glen Nevis. Here we were received by a very friendly staff.

My friend and I went to the visitor centre before setting off for our walk. A young man looked at us and asked if we had a map and compass with us to negotiate the top of the mountain area because of the visibility, seriously if you lost your way you would have problems leaving your house! It was recommended to us that half way to the waterfall would be more suitable for us. We walked to the top and back it took approx. 6 1/2 hrs, we went back to the visitor centre to let them know but we were met with scepticism that we actually made it! Then the woman looked at our shoes and snickered ( under her breath). We passed so many people with "serious" hiking clothes & boots rather than our sneakers without any problems. We are in our late 40s with reasonable fitness you can't assume that we weren't capable.
