The Greig Street Bridge is a pedestrian bridge that crosses the River Ness. It was completed in 1881 and measures about 102 meters long. The cables were replaced in 1952, as were the anchors in 1989. An important ritual for young people in Inverness is to walk a third of the way across the bridge and jump in unison. This creates the famous Greig Street sine wave.
When you cross it you get some very cool panoramic views.

This bridge is our constant route to and from the guesthouse where we are lodging. What bouncing fun and beautiful views of the city, crystal clear water below, and gorgeous ducks and swans. And did I mention September Scottish sunshine? Lucky us!

So my kids (8 & 10) loved this bridge. We walked over it every day to and from our B&B. Twice, at high tide, we saw "a monster" rear its head and swim up the River Ness from this bridge.
The monster had whiskers, big eyes and flippers... so you can figure out what it really was :-)

I was staying just a short walk away from the bridge and so walked by it many times (and stood there enjoying the sunset on some evenings). Many tried to jump on it and tried to shake it. It was a fun experience for sure!!

A way in to central Inverness with no cars.
It is easy and cheap to park on the one side and head into Inverness over the bridge.
Bouncy folk say - they have never done the bridge at Corrieshalloch.
Once or twice I have seen seals that made it up river a wee bit.

The Bouncy Bridge is a Must Do in Inverness. It does actually feel like its moving and the fast moving Ness River below adds to the experience. Its still in very good repair and used by locals each day.

A suspension linking Bank Street on the east bank with Hunty St on the west. The bridge looks pretty on a good day, especially with St Mary's Church in the backdrop. Views are also good on the bridge and you may even notice a disturbing swaying of the bridge with pedestrians on the bridge.

This is an unusual bridge as it bounces when you walk over it, the more people on it the bouncer its gets. It is definitely a fun experience.

I never thought I’d review a bridge but here goes... it’s functional, practical and ideally situated. It enables you to walk across the water without getting your feet wet and didn’t collapse when we walked over which is always a bonus. The bounciness is very amusing if not mildly terrifying for some, it’s like walking over a giant metal trampoline. Can’t really say much else, it offers good views, entertainment, is free and does its job well. Happy bridging!

As a local resident and frequent water crosser this bridge is one of many across the River Ness that I have crossed. Firstly, there are many miscreants and vagabonds using this bridge. Local hoodlums dressed all in black screaming obscenities at passers by. This originally left me feeling intimated. However, I now use the bounciness of the bridge to knock the miscreants off the bridge and into the water. My second point is the bridge is far to bouncy to be considered safe, I have seen on several occasions people bounced from said bridge into the icy Ness waters. What a cruel fate. On the positive side of things the bridge has excellent views over a lovely city and is terrific for picnics, although there are currently no tables, so unfortunately I have to give it a negative review. If one finds themselves in Inverness and needing to cross the water, use the infirmary bridge as it is much more tranquil.

Is there a car park close by and if so, is it free or what is the fee. Is there shopping on either side?

There is also inexpensive parking at the church down the street. I don't remember the name of the church but it was one of the tourist attractions.

Hi, they are 'love lockets' usually including inscriptions between the two people involved. It seems to be a growing phenomenon much to the chagrin of many councils, some of whom have the padlocks removed. The Hohenzollern railway bridge over the Rhine river in Cologne is absolutely covered in them!
