Through the years I'd driven by this castle, or seen it many times on Tv, but never visited it, until now.
The ladies were shopping, so the men decided to head up hill to see this grand castle. One route was blocked because of street work, so we took the longer option. Unfortunately we missed the option of visiting the viewing/panoramic station at the top of the castle, as the last entrance time was at about 1540 hrs, closing at 1600 hrs. So we walked around the historical building, reading about its history, taking in the views and sunset. Snow capped hills could be seen in the distance. Looking down on the fast flowing River Ness. Nice.

We had about 90 minutes to explore Inverness City Centre. We drove by the castle, which I have seen on a previous visit but our time was limited so we power shopped thru the city. There's lots to see and do here. I wanted to pick up some gifts for family and found some great goodies. There's several hotels and eateries in the center.

It is an impressive looking castle, but unfortunately it is closed for renovation. At some point in the past, it had been converted into space for the local government to use, but now it is being renovated into a tourist attraction. The best view of it for a photo is from across the river by the Ness Bridge.

Inverness Castle has one of the best sights across the City I've seen. I took my Partner up to the Turret Viewpoint and the sight was actually breathtaking.

The Staff were fantastic with us and maybe the trip more memorable. They went out their way to help us. They also made sure everything was Sanatized and followed Covid 19 procedure

This was not the highlight of our trip to Scotland! Although it has a great view over the town of Inverness, is not costly, and has interested staff at reception.... 1) The castle is a working building, and most of it is taken up with the Legal Courts, making that back entrance a wee bit harder to find. 2) the displays on the first 2 floors are not terribly exciting, though they do contain small amounts of local history. It is a very pretty building from the outside, and once at the top the view is really nice. A pleasant activity to do in inverness. It is a good introduction to other things you may want to see around town in the way of landmarks and parks and walks etc.

Was happy to see this large castle when in Inverness, though we knew it was closed. Someone mentioned the better view from across the river, so we took some nice photos there. But scaffolding was in place on one section which kind of marred the shot, so to speak.

Whilst the castle is now closed it is surrounded by hoarding which has information boards on it explaining the history of the castle and the future plan for its development. This made interesting reading and the view from up here across the city is wonderful.
Sitting on a bench admiring the view down to the cathedral we were entertained by the wild bunnies coming out fro their breakfast which was lovely.

Visited in late July 19 and had a fantastic time up the viewing tower. Amazing views with an incredible range over to the hills in the West and the sea to the north. City scape unfolds below you like out of a film. Didn’t enter the castle and was not aware if you could at the time so can’t comment on that.

The place is closed like all of Scotland. Basket cash city with no character. Avoid at all costs ! Came here for one day to have a look around. Bad mistake which included train delays bad weather and fat food only . There are better countries to visit other than Scotland.

Standing proudly above Inverness. Beautiful red sandstone building. Overlooking the river Ness it gives a great view all around the area.
Hoardings up around the castle at the moment with lots of interesting facts and information, whilst I believe it undergoes a renovation project.
