- tarimeandoLas Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain4,027 contributionsMarket in InvernessMarket located in the center of Invernees. The building dates back to 1890 and there are still many historic features, such as the vaulted cast iron and wood ceiling and round shop fronts. Two galleries intersect inside, creating three spaces. These three areas are home to over 30 independent businesses, some of which have been operating for generations. It's good for a walk, we bought a snack and went into some shops. There is not much to highlight and since it is a small market it can be visited in a short time.Visited January 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten February 1, 2024
- Sharon WNottingham, United Kingdom2,838 contributionsMuch better than expectedOn a recent visit to Inverness, this market was on our list to do. We did and it was a lot better than we expected. Lovely building with lots of little shops and a market. Great addition is the food court which had live musicians playing. Only a few stalls but it is a fairly new addition I believe. Lots of potential. We had a coffee and enjoyed the musicVisited January 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten February 10, 2024
- MelsScotlandPerth, United Kingdom89 contributionsWorth checking outA big shout out to the food court in the Victorian Market in Inverness. What a cracking wee find this was! Lots of different options from coffee and cake, cullen skink and freshly made sushi. Local businesses all in one place (indoors) with a communal seating area - great if one person wants cake and the other has opted for a langoustine wrap. Amazing to see Bad Girl Bakery now have an outlet in the city. Can highly recommend their cakes and sausage rolls. We bought a tray of fresh sushi from Sushi Inverness and it was incredible. It's still a work in progress with new outlets being finished off, so we can't wait to visit again.Visited January 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten February 14, 2024
- PaulaScotIsle of Skye, United Kingdom329 contributionsLovely eating area in The Food HallLooking for gluten free food as usual. Thought we'd have a look in the food hall in The Victorian Market. We opted for the fish and chips from The Redshank. You pick seats and take a bleeper with you. When your food is ready you get a wee bleep and go and collect it. Felt like a nice a friendly area. The gluten free fish and chips were lovely.Visited February 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten March 17, 2024

- Caron W12 contributionsGood food, good location.Lovely old market building, main hall repurposed as a food hub. Clean, tidy, good toilet facilities, entertainment included during our visits. Good selection of food options. Quick service, good quality food, cullen skink lovely, Chinese - good portion and tasty. Well worth a visit if you haven't booked a place to eat. Prices average £10 - 15 for main.Visited June 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten June 2, 2024
- Karen BFEdmonton, Canada705 contributionsFun shops, great food choices, delightful decorationsSurprisingly appealing little mall, even though on holiday we tend to avoid shopping malls in favor of local flavour. This market has that local flavour, inside and out of the frequent Scottish rain! So many choices in the food court (funny little play on Good Girls, a healthy salad joint, versus Bad Girls, a bakery). We opted for Namaste Inbhir Nis, where we enjoyed two very spicy lunches for about £33. So we made another stop at the Milk Bar for ice cream, less expensive but very tasty, on the way out. We had a short stop here, but you could easily spend a few hours if you are eating and shopping. The mall has a colorful history, so doesn’t feel like you are spending time in a homogenized environment.Visited May 2024Traveled with friendsWritten June 16, 2024
- Doug HMacomb, Michigan105 contributionsSustenance Inside Inverness Victorian MarketWe weren’t even hungry when we began strolling through the Victorian Market in Inverness, but the food hall stirred our interest in eating. We wound up splitting a dish at Salt n Fire. It was quite tasty and eminently affordable. It took all we had within us to skip a visit to Bad Girl Bakery which looked amazing!Visited July 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten July 30, 2024
- Andrew GConshohocken, Pennsylvania11 contributionsFood Hall is the highlight, shopping not greatWe visited last week. My average review is because I’m considering the shopping (poor) with Food Hall (excellent). I was expecting some good shops to browse through - a lot were closed, vacant, or not really shops that you’d expect to find in a place like this. Definitely not for tourists/souvenirs. It was also a little run down. Needless to say, we really didn’t do any shopping. The Food Hall was the highlight. We got food from three different vendors and all were great. We got an appetizer from The Mart, a dessert from Bad Girl Bakery, and the Cullen Skink from the Red Shank - it was the best we had in our entire time in Scotland.Visited September 2024Traveled with friendsWritten September 17, 2024
- Giga812,008 contributionsAnyway niceNice Point of Sale, but touristy. Food hall very nice but otherwise it is not a Point of Sale where they shop. Gift shops a few bazaars but real Point of Sale shops there are none. Anyway I liked it and Recommendation to visit it.Visited September 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten September 20, 2024

This is a lovely little Victorian market, it has a wide variety of shops and a great little chocolate shop.
They have some knitted models of some Inverness buildings at the moment which are beautiful.
Only worth visiting if your in the area, dont go out of your way!

Popped in here after depositing my son at the train station, as it’s really just across the road from it. Unfortunately it was near closing , & several of the shops were shuttered, but the bright Christmas decor was what really drew me in. The arcade is beautifully decorated with cascades of lights, and the Christmas tree 🎄is traditionally and festively adorned. This covered marketplace was opened on 25/05/1870, and still retains many of the original Victorian architecture & details like the ornate iron roof struts. Today it houses a varied range of independent shops , including jewellers, cafes and specialised food shops, florists, gift & souvenir shops, barbers etc, and has a unique olde-world atmosphere to be experienced.

We were a little underwhelmed but ultimately impressed by this place. When we heard "market," we expected a huge selection and tons of shops. We didn't realize they're still in the process of expanding and getting new businesses. All that is fine, I'm excited to see how the market grows if I ever get to come back to Inverness! The shops they did have were well-stocked, had extremely friendly and helpful staff willing to give recommendations, and sold nice products. There's also lots of room to sit if you've come to eat at the food court.

You might wander into the market to get out of the rain but some shops will surprise you. For example, there is a charity shop selling hand-knitted items very reasonably priced. This market is a weird mix of shops - some better than others but have to give it an excellent for the amazing chocolate shop. Venture further into the market to discover one small shop called Story Chocolates (Belgian Caledonian Chocolates). It has some great chocolate Nessies, hens, dolphins, etc amongst other fun chocolate gifts of various sizes for children. Meet the chocolatier who is welcoming and chatty. He has been in the Victorian Market for 19 years, producing top quality chocolate. Just when you think it can't get better ... it does. Check out the single malt chocolates: Aberlour, Bowmore, Glenfiddich, Highland Park, Macallan, Glenmorangie, Laphroaig, Tomatin. These single malt chocolates are truly delicious. Take a look, have a chat and buy some top quality gifts that are a change from the predictable shortbread, fudge and tablet.

Great food and drinks. Unique beers and the seafood from Redbank was world class. Wonderful oysters and cullen skink
Bad girls bakery also very good and we love that they are dog friendly. Lots of very well behaved dogs.
It was also very clean with the tables being diinfected and throughly cleaned after every diner with the floor swept.
Well done!

Stopped at the 'Bad Girl Bakery' within the Victorian Market for morning coffee. Lovely Americano and the most delicious apricot and white chocolate scone. My husband had the cheese and chilli scone, reported that it was first class. Reasonably priced too, staff very pleasant. Will definitely be back.

I enjoyed browsing the unique shops here. It’s very near the train station. A couple highlights were Triquerta Crafts and Bad Girl Bakery. Finding high quality bakeries that offer gluten free options is always a pleasant and tasty surprise. Triquerta Crafts has high quality and unique items that make excellent souvenirs. I bought some beautiful thistle earrings for myself and they were beautifully gift wrapped. A booth selling fresh fruit and vegetables is also one of the shops. Plenty of tables and chairs in the food court for a rest and a variety of food options. It was one of my favorite stops.

Quite simply the poorest tourist attraction I have ever visited. Could be down to Covid but virtually every shop was closed. Dont waste your time. There are far more interesting things to do in Inverness. It may have been around since Victorian times but it will be lucky to see the year out.

The market is rather small and the selection of shops is odd.
The food court is okay but a couple of booths were empty.
It is a nice location especially when it is raining.
It is surely not worth a detour.
We would not necessarily go there again.

Fantastic refurbishment in the market. Love what they have done/are trying to do with the food court area. Options for seating whether you visit as a couple, a family or a larger group. I look
forward to seeing what other food options will be there in the near future. BadGirl Bakery is 100% worth a visit. Fantastic selection of cakes and savory snacks.

I took a train from Edinburgh, actually. This was a day trip for me to Loch Ness-went shopping when I got back before catching the train back. Happy with my purchases, including a ceramic Nessie! As a visitor from the US I would definitely suggest making the journey. I traveled by myself and had no worries about doing so....
