Thanks to Rob (and David his brother, who recommended him) we had a fantastic family day around the Black Isle, Inverness and Loch Ness. Rob was quick to respond to our planning questions beforehand and attentive to our family circumstances and itinerary ideas. On the day Rob looked after us as if we were family (providing us with snacks and bottled water and finding loos when we needed them en route), but was never intrusive, allowing us time to enjoy the different locations for ourselves and never rushing us. He tailored the day to fit our particular interests (including a great lunch venue by Loch Ness), was informative and always ready to answer any questions we had or to make suggestions of things we might do next. Without doubt our tour with him was the highlight of our holiday - especially the bonus of seeing bottle nose dolphins close up (no guarantee but we were lucky that day!). He was most certainly value for money and we would recommend him in an instant. Thank you Rob!

Robert was a terrific guide. We were on a 12 day British Isles cruise and he was waiting for us as arranged at the port of Invergordon. He was pleasant, whitty, had a good sense of humour, knowledgeable about the area and even provided delicious snacks. He properly planned the day to allow us to visit all the sights we had on our wish list. His car was comfortable for 4 adults. We highly recommended you book Robert if you want to see the area around Loch Ness and Invergordon. Thanks for the tea cakes and laughs!!

Like other reviewers, we were a little hesitant to book a tour on our own, but we were so happy we did! Robert planned a day tailored around what we wanted to see and even went out of the way to show us some other things, like dolphins in the harbor. So much better than being stuck on a crowded bus with the rest of the herd! Robert was also great with our daughter and made sure that she was having fun as well.

We want to go back to Inverness just so Robert can show us the stuff we didn't have time for in one day!

We were picked up by Robert from Ness tours right on time at our hotel, and had planned a day of trying Scotlands whisky and seeing some of the countryside. Were we in for a surprise, and a very pleasant one indeed. Robert took us on a journey of a lifetime. Not only does Robert seem to know everyone personally in the North of Scotland, he knows every small road and little byway and country trail.

We set off for our first destination, the fabled Glenmorangie distillery. We arrived promptly at 10 for our planned tour, which was a very fine tour of a very good distillery. Five quid per person for about 45 minutes and a tasting of their basic fare. A good place to go if you do not know a lot about how whisky is made, like me, and they walk you through the process. Robert added greatly to the experience with anecdotal information and experiences.

Then we were off. Robert started to get to know us a bit and we started to invent an agenda for the day that was anything but a typical whisky tour. Robert graciously escorted us to several distillery's, a castle for coffee, a dairy..... I don't recall why we ended up there, but we did..... the Inverness and Caldonian Thistle Football Club, where once again Robert knew someone and we were able to get a quick tour of the pitch and grounds, then off to see the fabled "split stone" from the "Outlander" TV series. All the time entertaining us with story after story and a never ending conversation ranging from the politics of Scotland to the Highland cow.

Needless to say, I can't say enough positive things about Ness tours. I plan to call Robert again later in the week to get another half day of company and sightseeing from a real Inverness jewell. The folks at Ness tours, Gordon and Robert, have been nothing short of brilliant working to make our day perfect. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a highly personal, extremely professional service. Even the prepackaged food for our picnic lunch was terrific.

Do yourself a favor, call these people, book a tour, you won't regret it.

We are delighted that you had you enjoyed your day with us .Being a small local company allows us to take you places that you want to see as opposed to a larger group which has to stick to a rigid itinerary. Thank you again for such kind words

Rob picked us up and took us a scenic tour of the area before arriving at the Funicular Railway in the Cairgorms. Took trip to top of mountain and had an experience not to be missed. Views were fabulous. Rob was a courteous and knowledgeable driver who enhanced the trip by telling all sorts of historic facts, interspersed with personal anecdotes. Certainly not a boring trip and one to be highly recommended. Thanks Rob. I shall tell all my Turkish friends to contact you when they are in the area.

We went on a 12 day cruise around the British Isles and were lucky enough to book Robert to go on a private tour on our stop at Invergordon. We very briefly informed him of our general likes and dislikes and he came up with the perfect route, stops and sights to see for us. He was also quick to respond to our communication pre-tour. We had a brilliant day - Robert was informative, knowledgable and has a great sense of humour. He went out of his way to ensure we enjoyed ourselves, being flexible (changing his route and adapting as he got to know us) and very easy to talk to - if you are in any doubt which tour to book with, book Ness Tours - you will get a tour personally designed to meet your wishes - it is well worth it.

Robert was one of our favorite guides... ever. He is reasonable, dependable, personable, knows the area and is very flexible. He detailed the day to fit our family's desires and took us places that buses can't go. He was waiting for us at the gate when we got off our cruise ship with our name on a sign. He made sure we were back in more than enough time to catch our ship back out. Don't pay the high ship prices for your tours. On our British Isle cruise, this and Cohb, Ireland were the best places to splurge on a private driver.
There is no way we would have been able to see so much of this beautiful part of the world on a bus tour with a lot of people. It was so much fun, and we didn't have to worry about how to find places. He came up with several ideas of places to see. We stayed longer at some spots and shorter at others all according to our hearts desire with no other families to please. His roomy Peugeot was clean and comfortable for the 4 of us. He thought of fun things for our teenagers to do. Like walking along the river in Inverness, skipping rocks at Loch Ness, a driving range (golf), toured the beautiful (lived in) Cawdor Castle and grounds (my personal favorite), saw the beautiful countryside with sheep, cows, rolling hills, a distillery, spotted some seals, Culloden Battlefield and Culloden House, Graves of the Clans (Before Christ), scenic streams, Clara Curins (sp?), etc. He knew a great place to buy souvenirs at good prices: Woolen Mills or something like that. His cold water bottles and snacks for us hit the spot. With so much to see and do in this area, we are anxious to return to this gorgeous place in the world to see even more, like the Dunrobin Castle someday. We would DEFINITELY email Robert and Val at Ness Tours again! Thanks for an incredible experience in the Highlands; We ALL loved spending it with you. (And that can be tricky with teenagers!)
