My family and I had a wonderful 5 day private tour to the Isle of Skye with Moray, who was entertaining, knowledgeable and accommodating. We stopped at the most beautiful places and had ample time off the bus to explore. Thanks also go to Catherine, who coordinated our booking and suggested a great itinerary. Truly a memorable experience!

My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our day tour yesterday June 28 2024 from Inverness of Loch Ness, Beauly, and Urquhart Castle and Singleton whiskey tasting, and the Cairns along with a few surprise tour views and highlights along the way. Harrison was an excellent tour guide. He was vey engaging, welcoming and extremely knowledgeable. Highly recommend.

As I am writing, we are at the end of our second day of the tour, and I could not rave about it hard enough!! Not only do these uniquely beautiful islands meet our expectations fully, the organisation of the tour is excellent and our guide-driver James fantastic: very knowledgeable, funny, and passionate about his role, with an infectious passion for Scotland, too. I could only recommend. I am looking forward to tomorrow and even when that is finished, I am definitely coming back for more.

This tour was wonderful. We had a lot of stops to take pictures and beautiful sights, my camera is full. We had crazy weather, but that is Scotland. Sandy our tour guide was perfect. He knew a lot of information and even answered questions when we had them. The one thing I noticed, Sandy took the time to talk to each of us whether at a stop to take pictures or a longer stay. He took the time to make the trip personal for each of us. Teh bus was comfortable and very clean. Thank you Sandy for making my trip to Scotland / Inverness memorable.

The positives is the scenery was gorgeous on the trip from Inverness to John O' Groat. The Island of Orkney was also beautiful and every site I did visit was interesting.

The 3000 year old village of Skara Brae was worth the trip. And the Ring of Brodgar and the Standing Stones of Sternness is a must see for anyone that is up this way. However the tour itself was average at best.

Below are the negatives

Bus ride from Inverness to John O Groats was filled with rude talking fellow tourist and one crying child. The young lady who was the tour guide did not know how to control these tourist. In addition she only gave a very brief talk for a 3 hour ride. I needed some distraction besides loud talking tourist and a whining child. She could have least played some Scottish folk music.

This company advertises family friendly and young children are welcomed.. But quite frankly a young child has no business on this kind of tour. He is tortured and I was irritated.

Actual tour of Orkney was performed with the bus driver doing the talking. I find that some what dangerous. The bus driver should concentrate on the road. In addition I went on this tour to see the most ancient. The bus driver had us spend 30 miniutes at the Italian Chapel which is from the 1940's and 15 minuites on ice cream. I can get ice cream anywhere but I can not see old stones anywhere. When we stopped in Kirkwell we had 40 minuites to use the bathroom (necessity), go find somehting to eat(necessity) and visit the old cathedral. Why not take the 15 minuites spent on ice cream and add to this. I would have like to visit the cathedral. The 30 miniutes spent on the Italian Chapel could have spent letting us get out of the bus and take pictures of the Stones of Sterness which is older than Stonehenge. Instead it was stopping and looking out the bus window. A big positive among these negatives is the bus driver was an excellent story teller and I did enjoy the stories but his priorities need to be shifted. It would be an excellent idea to take a vote to see who would like to go into the Italian Chapel and who would like to spend more time with the ancient stones.

It brings me no joy to write this review, but I feel other travelers must be warned. I had one day to fulfill a lifelong dream of seeing the Highlands and after a lot of online research, I felt I could entrust Highland Experience, given their excellent reviews. I planned a private full-day trip to Skye with my husband and grown children 8 months prior to the actual date, checking in with the representative and double-checking. At no small expense, I paid for a full day trip in a "people mover" or small van, so everyone would have a good view as we spent 12 hours in the countryside. You can imagine how I felt when our guide turned up on the appointed morning in a small sedan, asking the four adult passengers to pile in without a hope of seeing the scenery. Apparently, the customer-service representative, who had confirmed the van in writing with me, didn't actually book the vehicle or let anyone know we'd paid for a van.The whole day trip wound up cancelled and I am still, almost a month later, unbelievably disappointed and angry at the company's "service." Adding insult to injury, I had to call multiple times to get anyone to speak with me and refund my money. Proceed with caution before booking with this organization.

I was extremely disappointed and angry with this tour as it was not as described in the brochure and on the web page. Our tour guide was Sinclaire, we kept informing him that we could not hear him speak at the back of the bus, which he seemed to ignore us. The bus was also very warm, and he could not seem to operate the air conditioning, this made many of the passengers feel sick, He stopped for lunch at Eillan Donan castle which was very expensive and there were no other options to go eat anywhere else. I had booked the trip as I wanted to go to Portree for lunch as described in the information, we arrived in Portree at about 3pm which was useless. When we got back to our b&b we studied the information and it seemed we did the route backwards not as described in the brochure. Before we left the bus station Sinclare did not mention this to us nor could we find any reason why he went this way. We travelled many thousands of kilometres and this trip was the highlight of our holiday to go to Portree for lunch and see Skye. We only saw through the window we had no picture stops, it was like a bus service to the island, we would have been better getting the government bus to Skye. In fact it spoilt our holiday we will not recommend this company to anyone, in fact I will be sending an email to the company demanding our money back as the tour was not as described. I had read the reviews on the tour on here which all seemed positive, ours was the tour from hell, I just hope that if you have booked make sure you get the tour as described.

Highland Experiences have blown me away with their kind hearted nature and willingness to put on a tour despite it being just me and my boyfriend who wanted to partake! We were desperate to go on the tour as it was genuinely one of the best looking in the area and it didn't disappoint.

Mark our driver arrived early to pick us up from the rendezvous point and was incredibly polite, humble and knowledgeable about all the local areas we visited. He was more than willing to hang back, stop and let us take pictures and offered up reams of info that was truly insightful.

Not only that, but he looked after us really well, making sure we wanted for nothing - loo stops, coffee, water etc. It felt really tailored to us as we could ask to stay longer or shorter at different places and Mark was truly accommodating. Thank you Mark!

Our favourite part of the tour was the Whisky Distillery, Glen Ord. Loved the tour, fantastic value for money (just £5 each!) and we got a little snifter at the end. Lovely guide called Lauren was fab.

Of course, Loch Ness didn't disappoint but Urquhart Castle was a bit of a let down as it was too icy to go and see. Would recommend travellers go late Nov vs. mid-Dec!

All in all, would whole heartedly recommend this tour and Highland Experiences. They run some fab looking tours and if we're ever in the area again, we'll be going to them first.

This was by far the highlight of our trip. Our guide, Ian was absolutely fantastic! He was so entertaining and knowledgeable, he took us to the most amazing places and kept everything flowing -- I can't believe how fast the day went! We are huge fans of Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series and this tour FAR exceeded our expectations. We would DEFINITELY recommend Inverness Day Tours, and specifically our guide Ian to anyone looking for an amazing day exploring.
