Here at Explore Highland, we love the great outdoors.Based centrally in the Capital of the Scottish Highlands, Inverness is surrounded by beautiful landscapes, wildlife, but best of all, a plentiful supply of water for open canoeing, river kayaking or sea kayaking. When you join us on a guided adventure or hire a boat for your own adventure, we will ensure that your time in the Highlands is truely memorable. We may be bias, but we feel that there is no better location in the world to explore.

Donald organised a day Kayaking trip for us at short notice and despite the rain we all had the best time. He explained everything really well, providing detailed tips and guidance on how to watch the currents in the river. Plus we saw an Osprey! Loved the riverside brew - lovely touch. Honestly can't recommend him highly enough - book... More

First of all, Donald is a great teacher. He had an abundance of patience and made the whole day fun and informative. We spent the day on the River Beauly and got to experience amazing scenery, not to mention watching nesting Osprey. The whole day was great fun and I would recommend it for the whole family. If Donald can... More

Had a brilliant week on the Great Glen, canoeing from Fort William to Inverness, Donald has excellent knowledge of the area, its flora and fauna and history. A great way to spend a week seeing Loch Ness and surroundings from a different viewpoint on the water.

Donald was a fantastic instructor. Great equipment. Taught us the basics on the canal then took us out on the firth, beautiful scenery and seals popping up everywhere! Excellent value for the afternoon too.

Wow. Yes, we were lucky to have extraordinarily good weather, but even in pouring rain I have no doubt that Donald would have facilitated an entertaining and enjoyable trip. With a fair amount of prior SUP experience, I chose to take a stand-up paddleboard whilst the other members were in kayak. We were in a small group led by Donald,... More

I filled out their web-form about a month before our visit to Inverness. I received an automated reply saying they would respond as soon as possible. About two weeks later, I contacted them again, by direct e-mail, asking about the status of our reservation request and received another automated response. We ended up having to make other plans.

Our family of four (two kids aged 8 and 12) had a memorable trip canoeing on Loch Ness in July thanks to Explore Highland. Donald met us at Dochgarroch with his two Canadian canoes and, though we had never canoed before, he ably and safely guided us around the Loch navigating the weirs, cruise ships and wrecks. This was a... More

This was the best bit of our holiday - it was too windy to go out on Loch Ness but we went on the Caledonian Canal instead and had a fun evening - even our dog went too and relaxed while we did all the work! A fantastic way to enjoy an evening. Donald was really helpful and good fun... More

Donald our guide did a brilliant job, making the trip go really smooth even thou we were delayed by ferry strike. spent the week relaxing and wild camping on some spectacular locations. We were lucky enough to come across a couple of basking sharks and a... More
