About
This place is temporarily closed until 2025. The Castle Viewpoint offers fabulous 360 degree views of the Highland Capital and many of the famous landmarks in the surrounding area. If the weather is inclement, or you are not able to climb the stairs, you can enjoy the beautiful views via pre-recorded, narrated drone footage in our Round Room on the ground floor. PLEASE BE ADVISED that we will be closed from 4pm on Fri 20 Mar 2020 until further notice. Apologies for any disappointment.

When we arrived we were advised to watch the film and then go straight to the viewpoint as there was a 25 min time limit. We, incorrectly, thought this was the time limit for the viewpoint as there were a couple of rooms to look in on the way down. We had just entered the 1st room when we were kicked out as the 25 mins was up. The video took about 10 mins and 2 or 3 mins to walk up all the stairs. There was not a single person waiting or anyone else in the place. The view was nice but 25 mins is not long enough when there are a lot of stairs.

Unfortunately the attraction can only be occupied by single family bubble at one time, so limited time slots are allocated. Result is 20 mins taking in the tower view point and 3 exhibition rooms with long video presentations. The attraction needs splitting into two halves - with time in the tower followed by the exhibition rooms, with each half occupied by a bubble. Shame as this is a nice little attraction.

You can get a 360 degree view from the viewpoint. It was one of my best experiences when I was on holidays.

Really enjoyed this! The videos definitely helped me understand what I was looking at, as well as cut up the stair climbing. Once I got up there, I got the 360 degree views of Inverness! Very pretty!

After climbing 94 or was it 96 stairs to get to the top the view is spectacular. Although it was extremely windy when we were there it was well worth the £5 adult and £3 child (11yrs).

Just 5GBP for a view and interesting legends. Great for a break in town, an hour max. The staff is friendly and there are chairs for viewing the displays at each of the 3 floors.

A mandatory spot when travelling in Inverness. Good viewpoint to make some nice photos, especially when on a clear weather day.

Is there an elevator for handicapped persons to use? Thanks

No, but I think wheelchair access in available for the film and shop.

They take visitors all day long. There isn’t much of a wait, even during tourist season. The castle isn’t very large compared to other castles in the country. Should be able to do all that you would like to do in under an hour.
