The ruins of this castle are a bit hidden, but worth checking out. There’s free parking as well as entry. You do have a bit of a trek to the castle, and dress appropriately. It is on the coast and extremely windy. There are information...More

Interesting castle nicely presented and explained. It is small and you can only access to small part of it but worth the time and effort. It took us about 10 minutes detour in town + 15 min walk from parking in a well organized path....More

Had the nc500 map in our lap and saw this and went. Yes it is a little walk from the car park, but so worth it! Do it! It’s so interesting and beautiful. Amazing to see the history and how it changed over the hundreds...More

It was a beautiful day for a walk out to the castle. Its not by the car park but a short walk through fields. The setting is amazing right on the water and cliffs. The information boards were helpful What a lonely life to live...More

Despite being partially derelict and in the process of being restored, but with a long way to go, this is a spectacular castle, primarily because of its location. Access is via a single track road from Stixigoe but there are no signs to it! There’s...More

Overlooking the ocean, these Castle Ruins are definitely a must see if you are doing the North Coast 500, or just visiting Wick. It’s located a bit out of the Wick township, on a very narrow road. From the car park there is a short...More

Off the beaten path so not a lot of people. Just beautiful to explore. The restoration project is ongoing so be careful if you should go. Worth the short walk!

On the sea at the end of a long and winding road, the castle ruins are easy to walk to and quite well documented along the walkway. A nice introduction to the Sinclairs of Caithness.

We loved going to this castle ruin and found it really interesting. The information on what the castle would have been like was good to see. We enjoyed exploring around the rocks too.
