Steam through the stunning Scottish Highlands in style. Our steam engines take you on a very special trip through the Cairngorms National Park as you travel between Aviemore, Boat of Garten and Broomhill. Why not make your trip extra special with one of our dining on board options: Light Lunch offers soup, sandwiches, tea and coffee; Afternoon Tea has some sandwiches, scones with jam and cream followed by some delicious cakes; or enjoy a full three course Sunday Lunch or Dinner. Why not upgrade to First Class to enjoy a meal in one of our compartments, finely decorated in it's own tartan, with vintage British Rail mirrors and luggage racks inside.Split your trip up with a visit to Boat of Garten to explore some fantastic walk trails or bring your bike on board to explore the great cycle routes in the area. See if you can beat the train back from Broomhill on your bike!We are also taking part in the Great Railway Treasure Hunt 2013, so there's plenty for the kids to do on the trip!

We booked the first class afternoon tea for our Mum's birthday. The steam train was unavailable on the day which could not be helped but it would have been nice to be notified before travelling there. The soft furnishings on the replacement train were nothing like advertised for the steam train. The majority of the staff were friendly but one... More

We had a great day on the train from Broomhill to Aviemore and back. Staff at the station were very helpful and friendly. The engine looked fantastic. Even had time to chat with the engine driver before the train departed and ask for his job! Would recommend a trip on the train.

Travelled on the steam train today - a glorious day of weather. Sadly, the journey was less than glorious! We had two small dogs with us and at the station, we were told to go to Carriage A which was for owners and their dogs. When we got there the carriage was full of people without dogs while many of... We holiday often to Aviemore and have been dining on the train for a number of years and decided to go again this year. I did think it a bit odd when we had to pre-order our meals prior to our visit and that the menu had changed. Anyway I didn't think much of until we got seated and noticed... More

Having previously been passengers on the steam train from for William to mallaig, we were looking forward to this train journey. We paid for first class which included a light lunch but were extremely disappointed with the quality of the food which we assumed would be fresh local produce. Instead, it tasted like tinned tomato soup and a dry salmon... More

Had seen this and thought great for a rainy day. As wheelchair friendly as they can be given it's old rolling stock. Myself and son 2 travelled in the Guards Van as the only one with doors wide enough to get on. Staff were excellent and while not luxury certainly the best they could do. The trip is good with... This was a great wee experience. The staff are dedicated in their roles, making sure everyone are on and comfortable. We had the First Class deal, our own compartment with light lunch. The waiter guy was helpful and quite knowledgeable on things going on with the other steam train services in Scotland. The lunch consisted of soup and a sandwich... More

This is indeed a nice trip for a rainy day (and most of the days here have been rain) but the views from the train are a little disappointing as they don't include any of the lochs. We went for the 1st class lunch in our own compartment which was expensive for what it was (the light lunch was soup,... More

We bought a return ticket from Boat of Garten to Broomehill and then to Aviemore and back. Broomehill is the site of Glenbogle from Monarch of the Glen. Don't get off at this stop, it's a car park in the middle of nowhere - nothing to see, perhaps a drop off point of you are going on a walk trail.... More
