I did the 3 day multi environment survival course at weekend and had an amazing time. The course exceeded exceeded my expectations, I learnt loads and enjoyed every minute. I feel more confident now that I have the knowledge, skills, tools in my rucksack and what resources are around me when I am out going up and down Munros and generally out in the wild. A massive thank you to Derek, Abi and Graham who ran the course. Their knowledge, experience and the great mix of theory and practical examples was perfect. Would highly recommend this course to anyone who spends time outdoors. On top of all this I really enjoyed the 3 days and putting in to practice what I had learnt. I hope I don't need to use some of what I have learnt but if the need arises I know it might save my life or those I am with. Lots of what I learnt I have already used to amend my kit list or cant wait to put into practice on my next trip.

Just arrived back home after the 3 day course.
I can't thank the instructors enough for this amazing experience, the knowledge and expertise between them is brilliant.
They take the time to teach you the skills you need and have plenty patience.
It has been an extremely hard weekend and im ready to sleep for days but so rewarding.
Thanks again guys and hopefully will see you again for the 5 day course 😊

I can't recommend the BCS team and Neil highly enough. I attended the three day survival course and from start to finish it was brilliant. We learnt an incredible amount and crammed so much into the three days! The team of instructors were fantastic and really guided everyone through, catering for all abilities! Without a doubt I'll be back again!

Me and my pal headed off up to the Cairngorms last weekend for a three day expedition with Back Country Survival and it was certainly an experience I will remember and cherish for the rest of my days.
We were kindly picked up at our hotel on the Friday morning by Graham, one of the instructors and taken to the BCS bothy. From there Graham and Brad explained what the weekend would entail.
Following introductions between the group we were in, we hiked off into the wilderness. Both Brad and the two Graham's were great company throughout and spent lots of time and patience explaining the amazing countryside we were travelling through. It is such an amazing and picturesque part of the world to visit and we are lucky it is only a few hours away.
The first day was spent constructing a “lean to” shelter where as a group we spent the first night. We were taught how to do this in a really comprehensive manner along with lessons on how to build fires, filter water and so on.
The second day was spent dealing with map reading and displays on how to make traps. We were then given game to prepare and cook on our own fires. I will never look at a pigeon in the same way again!
Following this we headed up a big hill called An Suidhe and spent the next couple of hours navigating our way off the summit to our next location. We then were taught how to build A frame shelters which we stayed in for the night.
The final day consisted of making our own traps and culminating in an epic journey down a gorge through rapids which our rucksacks tied in our bivy bags!
All in all In cannot praise these guys highly enough. Brad, the two Grahams and Neil are clearly very knowledgeable and passionate about what they do and I am looking forward to putting what I have learnt into use over the summer. With the new skills I have I will be the coolest dad on the campsite.
The three day expedition is demanding and one of those trips that you only get put of what you put into it. I can honestly say it was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.
If you are mulling over whether to do any of the trips BCS have to offer then just do it you will not be disappointed!
Thanks lads and im sure I will see you again!

I recently attended a 2 day survival course run by Backcountry Survival. The course was brilliant from beginning to end and the instructors knowledge was impressive. It was well structured and you were given time through the course to practice and consolidate the skills you had been taught. I would highly recommend one of Backcountry Survival courses to anyone wishing to learn survival / bushcraft skill in an excellent remote setting.
