Fantastic tour venturing below Glasgow Central Station. Paul was a wonderful guide, lots of interesting information about the Station and it’s history intermingled with stories from his past working in the Station and the people he has met along the way, his banter was brilliant and there was a lot of laughter. It was a fascinating look into the craftsmanship of the day against the more modern additions which are not quite so hardy. The museum was excellent, small, but filled with a fascinating history, not just about the station itself but the hotel and the people who have travelled through its doors. The new memorial to the men who lost their lives in the wars is also very special and touching. We were aware we wouldn’t be able to see the Victorian platform as this is being developed and sounds amazing, will definitely be returning to see it.

I would recommend this tour, excellent value and an interesting look into another part of Glasgow’s history delivered by someone whose passion for the Station and it’s history shines through.

Jackie is an extraordinary guide and very gifted story teller! All throughout the tour, we felt her passion and enthusiasm, which we truly understood when we learned about the museum space she created, and her future plans for the Victorian platform (I'll let her tell you about those!).

Don't be fooled by the name of this tour; sure, it takes you to all the parts of the station you'd normally never get access to, but it is so much more! Through the story of Glasgow Central, Jackie majestically taught us so many things about the social history of Glasgow. She had us hanging on her lips until the very end of the tour, which is like no other--highly recommend for visitors and locals alike!

Our tour of Central Station today was excellent. The station and building itself is beautiful and the history of it is very interesting. Our group size was just right for us all to hear Paul and be active participants in the tour. The highlight was the tour guides delivery. Paul Lyons educated and entertained us and was a font of knowledge, delivering the information with humour and conviction. Our teens loved the tour too and we would highly recommend it. Excellent value for money also.

I had an absolutely amazing tour on Thursday 21st October with Jackie. She was a fantastic and extremely enthusiastic local guide who is clearly passionate about the history of Glasgow. The tour has taught me more about Scotish history than I could ever imagined and it was amazing to be able to see the fantastic museum that Jackie has curated. My favorite part of the tour was by far seeing the abandoned low level platforms at Glasgow Central and being able to see the current low level trains carrying fare paying passengers from the abandoned platforms. It was truly an amazing experience at the end of the tour, to return to the busy Glasgow Central concourse and seeing lots of people unaware of what lies beneath! At £13 this was fantastic value of money and even local Glasweagans were on the tour with me. If this is not a sign to go on the tour then I don't know what is!

I’m probably just going to say what a lot of people have said before me and I totally concur.
Absolutely amazing tour from start to finish.
Paul is so knowledgeable, passionate, funny and interesting to listen to. He really piqued your interest about the station, its history and the history of the surrounding area.
Would definitely recommend this tour as Paul has you laughing with all his stories and the museum is something very special. We will return when the steam train is installed at the Victorian station.

Absolutely amazing tour from start to finish. Paul is so knowledgeable and passionate about the station and its history. Would definitely recommend this tour as Paul has you laughing with all his stories and the museum is something very special. Tour lasted almost 2 hours but certainly didn't feel it. Can't wait to return. Keep up the good work

This tour was fantastic! My partner and I booked it on a whim, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our entire vacation across Scotland and Ireland.

Our guide, Jackie, was extremely knowledgeable, passionate, funny, and enthusiastic. She took us from the ground level into multiple levels of the basement and subbasement, explaining unique and emotional stories about Scottish and Glasgow history as she went. Her stories were accompanied by one-of-a-kind architecture, historical rooms and structures, and beautiful artworks visualizing key players and moments in the station’s history.

The station itself was beautiful and fascinating, but honestly it was Jackie that really made this a special experience. Not only did she provide an excellent tour experience, but her passion for the station and tour’s future came through in the museum her and Paul – the other tour guide – developed and in the plans she shared with us about future exhibition spaces deeper under the station.

We cannot recommend this tour enough. If you find yourself with a free day in Glasgow, I can't imagine a better way to learn the local history and have a great time doing it!

I had bought my wife tickets for this tour as part of her Christmas as we are followers of the BBC Scotland series (new one starting in three weeks) We weren't quite sure what to expect but our guide, Paul Lyons) is such an engaging character and the time just flew past.
We know some of the history of the station, but he was able to share his knowledge and turned it into a fascinating exploration of what goes on underneath the concourse and the social history of Glasgow. One of the most poignant exhibits relates to the role of the station durng World War One. I don't want to give away too many secrets as I don't want to spoil your visit. What I can share is that there will be a new exhibit on site very soon as the tour is always evolving.
We visited three of the levels open to the public and although there are many stairs to negotiate, you don't have to be that fit.
Our group comprised 16 people of all ages!
I have added a photo of Paul in his kilt.
We will be back and I thoroughly recommend this tour.

This walking tour was absolutely wonderful and takes you through so many hidden aspects of an exceptionally good and well-patronised railway station. Paul was our guide and just the right person to ask all manner of questions about the railways.
He not only knew the local history but he also enthusiastically talked of plans to restore some of the once functioning, deep underground areas of Glasgow Central Station.
Even though the tour went down the stairs in places it was well-lit with sturdy railings and there were many flat places where we stopped, regrouped and were shown particular features, such as the superb construction work on the girders that seem to have lasted forever! There were too many interesting aspects of this tour to mention but if you’d like to get the inside, truthful story of this iconic station, put Paul and this walking tour on the “To Do in Glasgow” list.

A quite fascinating tour of the structure, history and social history of this great Glasgow institution.
Our guide, Paul, took us effortlessly, with humour and enthusiasm, through the levels of the station, the architecture, the functions, the history and the people involved over the years. The stories, the presentation and delivery spoke fluently of Glasgow as it is and was - its streets, activities and the people involved in them. Paul is steeped in railways and stations, so articulated his talk clearly and entertainingly from a depth of knowledge and experience.
We'll be back for more, when current projects under development come to fruition. Meantime, look out for Paul, coming up shortly on BBC Scotland's "Inside Glasgow Central"
