Fantastic walking holiday on Shetland. Small group of walking companions. The walks were varied, we also visited Jarshof in the south and the nature reserve in Unst. Our guide Jon's knowledge was excellent being an islander. The walks were adapted to suit the weather conditions.
The accommodation was very good with a very spacious room, freshly cooked breakfast each morning. A packed lunch was provided on walking days. We ate out in different restaurants each evening and the service and quality of food was excellent. I would have no hesitation recommending About Argyll Holidays to anyone.
This holiday didn't disappoint and Shetland is a little gem.

Pleased that you enjoyed our Shetland Walking Tour. The Shetland Islands are also one of our favourite places. In spite of all the murders Jimmy Perez has to deal with!

just came back from the Shetlands where I did a group walking trip organized by About Archyll. It was a perfect trip. Very good organized. The guide was very experienced, the accomodation perfect, and the walkings were very divers and in the most beautiful surroundings.

I defenitely will book another trip with About Archyll

Very rare for me to rate "excellent" but my recent Shetland Walking Tour with Argyll thoroughly deserves it. Superb planning and organisation throughout, lovely accomodation and our guide, Malcolm inspired with his knowledge, enthusiasm and friendly manner. For me what makes something excellent is how something going amiss is handled: so when you get a poor weather day or a snag in transport etc and it is seamlessly dealt with then you know you're in good hands! Terrific and varied trips, top accomodation and great evening meal venues, interesting landscapes and some fabulous wildlife, oh and walking that challenged but left you looking forward to the next one. What's not to like?

My response is a bit late, but it seems that emails about new reviews don't come through. Thank you for your review. Great to learn how much you appreciate our efforts to give a great holiday without having to worry about anything and being able to fully enjoy the trip.

There were eight of us on a walking tour of Orkney. Our guide Richard was informative and enthusiastic about the natural world and the history of the islands. The walks were varied, spectacular and interesting. We visited seabird colonies, Norse, medieval and Neolithic sites along the beautiful coastline. We even had the chance of a dip at one of the lovely little beaches in the chilly water with a seal for company!

Highly recommend About Argyll. Our trip to Shetland was amazing - natural beauty, history, and wildlife Each day was well planned to different Shetland walks to immerse in the wonder and culture of this remote archipelagos. Accommodations in Lerwick were excellent and meals were great. But our guide Malcolm made all the difference. His knowledge, organization, flexibility, good nature, and humor made all the difference. Also, the small group made the tour special. No doubt - 5/5 is well deserved

This company has the best choices for remote northern Scotland walking tours. I just competed a 15 day tour of the Orkney and Shetland Islands. Unbelievable coastal and meadow views up close and personal hikes. Knowledgeable guides, fantastic bird and plant life. Walking through fields full of sheep. Great accommodations in choice B&B and packed lunches. History and views for miles.

I just finished a walking tour with Argyll Walking Holidays. I went to Orkney and Shetland Islands. The group guides were excellent and so knowledgeable about the history, bird life, plants and everything else about the islands. Spectacular coastal walks and sweeping vistas make these Islands very special, The included accommodations were top notch and so many excellent restaurants in Kirkwall and Lerwick. If you like remote and unique walking vacations. This trip is for you.

Argyll Walking Holidays hosted a wonderful adventure for us! The guides were SO knowledgeable, entertaining, and flexible (we walked with Richard, Leslie, Ian and Fiona on different parts of the trip - all excellent!). The hikes were gorgeous - you have to see the Scottish Highlands to appreciate their austere beauty, the expanse of the landscape, the serene quiet, the ancient history and the varied flora and fauna (we saw SO many flowers AND both a sea eagle AND a golden eagle, not to mention lots of other interesting birds and more black-faced sheep than you can count). We had perfect weather (no rain or wind!!!??? - amazing) and the trails were pretty accessible, dry, and easy to navigate. The hotels and transportation between hikes were both excellent, and the restaurants were ALL delicious, most featuring local ingredients and creative cuisine. Argyll Walking Holidays pulled all of this off under very difficult circumstances - some hiccups that were totally out of their control and that they handled nimbly, always making sure that we were taken care of and enjoying this once in a lifetime tour. You can't ask for more from a tour company (and I work with a lot of tour companies in my professional life). They did a brilliant job even under extreme circumstances! KUDOS to Frieda and her team!!!!

Hi Teresa, Thank you so much for your raving review. We are pleased that you enjoyed the tour in spite of all the changes we had to make. You are the lucky ones meating quite a few members of our team and they all enjoyed meeting you and taking you out. We are pleased that you enjoyed hiking with all of them. Yes, the weather is very settled this summer compared to the unsettled weather we usually have. Frieda

Wonderful walking week on Mull. Nice mixture of scenery and history. Hundreds of puffins on Staffa, abbey on Iona and I climbed my first Munro (Ben More). We stayed in 2 wonderful B&B's and were very wel looked after. Experienced and friendly guide with good knowledge on wildlife, history and geology. Comfortable walking temperature (14-19 Celcius) in the beginning of june and hardly any rain. Higly reccomended if you are looking for a well organised small group walking holiday.

Hi Martine, Great that had such a good time during our Exploring Mull walking holiday. I am pleased to learn that there are lots of puffins on Staffa, because we had a group on Shetland the week before and there were few puffins. Mull is my favourite Scottish island!

Just returned from a wonderful week in Shetland with About Argyll. What a superb experience! The planning was meticulous to ensure an action-packed itinerary, covering as many amazing places as possible - the oldest Broch in the world, stunning shows of thousands of gannets swirling round rock faces, amazing geology.... We had a leader with an encyclopaedic knowledge which meant we got far more out of our visit than the normal tourist. Then back to a great b and b, Aald Harbour, with the best packed lunches (oh, the chocolate cake, the lemon drizzle cake!) A small group means I return with such good memories.

Shetland is also on of my favourite destinations to go hiking and of many of our guides. It never bores and we are pleased that the weather allowed you to do everything we scheduled for your trip. Hope to see you again on one of our other hiking tours some day! Frieda
