- EmerlistEdinburgh, United Kingdom91 contributionsNicest theatre we have been in.This is the nicest theatre we have ever visited. It’s almost worth going to see the decor. Comfortable seating. Good viewing. Pleasant staff. And the cheapest ice cream we have ever experienced - just over half the price of the Playhouse in Edinburgh. And the show was good too (Beyond the Barricades).Visited February 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten February 13, 2024
- elaine8386 contributionsFirst visit to The Pavilion TheatreA beautiful theatre with good views. The staff were very friendly and helpful especially as my mum was in a wheelchair. The choice of flavour of ice cream was very good, it made a nice change to just having vanilla available. Love how you were encouraged to take photos at the finale and upload them with a prize for the best one. I really enjoyed our visit and look forward to visiting again.Visited December 2023Traveled with familyWritten March 4, 2024
- Mop5531 contributionsMurder in the DarkThe good bits- the theatre is lovely and the actual play was excellent. Funny, eerie, very entertaining and everything I appreciate watching a good play. The cast were excellent and I enjoyed my afternoon's entertainment. The staff here are very welcoming and pleasant, no issues at all. The bad bits- the audience! Talking all through the play. I don't know who they were but on my far left quite far along, I could clearly hear a man's voice and then to the far right a woman. I do not mean a few moments of speech, I mean an ongoing monologue. People up and down like yoyos in seats, but, to be fair I wonder if it was people moving to sit beside radiators, many people were complaining about the cold. It is a very old theatre and old theatres are draughty, I had visited the Pavilion before so had dressed warmly. People sitting with mobile phones switched on looking at them, why they were at a play I don't know. They do not seem to realise how annoying the brightness of mobile phones are, especially to those of us who wear glasses. In a dark environment it really can be blinding. To be honest before shows even begin, there needs to be an announcement to switch phones off! Also no talking while the show is performing, if nothing else the players need respect shown to them. Although I very much enjoyed the play, the lack of consideration from other people spoiled it. If you want to sit and chat and play with your phone, please go to a cafeteria, not the theatre.Visited March 2024Traveled soloWritten March 29, 2024
- couple221 contributionsFrancie & Josie must seeSpecial occasions warrants a very special show, Francie & Josie topped the bill, just fabulous. A packed theatre watched this tribute to the original comedy act and roared with laughter at some of the original material and also updated material/sketches. The addition of live, very talented singers, really enhanced the enjoyment of this much loved show. Francie & Josie (Liam & Johnny) continue to fill theatre seats at the Pavillion and their next appearance should be a definite date in your diary. The Pavillion is a beautiful theatre, attentive caring staff, great seat prices, a huge asset to the Glasgow theatre scene.Visited June 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten June 18, 2024

The bar was well run considering it was very busy. The show itself was very good and worth seeing. Overall a nice place to have a night out if you are in Glasgow.Visited July 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten July 7, 2024

If you are a family avoid like the plague.. this is the most appalling venue i have ever been to and heard about you have to pay for babies to have a seat witch they are not allowed to sit in if your baby cries at a panto they are quickly asked to leave even when its the rude manager who wakes my baby and then tell me to shut IT up being a manager with that attitude towards young families is disrespectful. Now they do have nice staff.. Dont go to the pantos your experience will be ruined as your little ones are not allowed to get excited and stand at there seats.. basically they dont want you to go with babies or young kids( read there own policies) they should never be getting family booking because it isnt for all the family they say its fun for all the family but not.. that to me is false advertising.. and the management shouldnt be allowed to work with public they need new fresh managers ones which smile and welcoming to the public before booking check the reviews out on google kings theatre should get there panto bookings least they welcome all the family

This performance was very poor . There was little enthusiasm from the cast and key roles were performed very badly . The sound quality was awful .special effects pathetic and I can only assume some of the parts had been passed to understudies . Moreover , the standards of access to and egress from the auditorium left me feeling that there was gross understaffing of ancillary staff . The staff had no sense of welcoming the audience wit a pleasant smile and seemed overwhelmed by the attendance . A number of the audience left the venue at the interval complaining about their entire experience .

Visited here on Friday 11/03/2022 to see an Elvis tribute concert. The show itself was excellent but for me the theatre is a complete let down and its own worse enemy. Seating is so cramped you can hardly breathe and the corridors and décor is visibly stuck in the 80s. The sound system is terrible especially if you are at the back of the stalls underneath the balcony. What did it for me was the staff having to constantly tell people of for standing which is very off-putting and constant, you will never stop people from standing now and again at concert so why try? Staff also have to constantly explain to people that alcohol is not allowed in the main auditorium I counted at least 10 people asking why? but they will serve you right up to the start of the show. Every other theatre allows this even the Falkirk Town Hall so surely they can do something about this, I mean it is a concert on a Friday night people want to enjoy themselves and have a drink and can do this safely if paper cups are used like everywhere else and it would save staff having to explain constantly. Toilets are also in desperate need of updating. Will unfortunately never be back which is quite sad really.

Eddi Reader – The Pavillion Theatre, Glasgow
Eddi Reader, 64, is a Scottish singer-songwriter, best known for her work as the lead vocalist of the folk and soft rock band Fairground Attraction. This was a solo gig, and contemporaneous with the Celtic Connections festival. Eddi treated us to long introductions to each song, delivered in broad Glaswegian vernacular. Being English born I didn’t catch most of it, but it seemed to involve headbutting a fair bit. But us foreigners singled out. It turns out Eddi has met many nice English people. So that’s OK then. And then then there was the politics. Our Eddi doesn’t much like Nigel, Donald or Boris but evidently Nicola is great. We are all entitled to our views, but I didn’t buy a ticket to hear hers. The music was anonymous, dull stuff and hard to engage with. But in fairness to Eddi the bulk of the crowd seemed very happy with the patter. This was the less pleasant bit of Glasgow talking to itself. I shall not be intruding again but all was not lost. The support act, Robin Adams, was thoughtful, melodic and able to engage the emotions. One to check out.

Last nights Adult Panto was shocking, avoid, avoid, avoid. Don’t waste your time or money, only three actors, the script was terrible, nothing spent on stage props, with one of the main jokes being that the stage door was locked when it should have been open. The swearing was over the top, the suggestive behaviour / statements were awful and embarrassing. Refunds should be sent to avoid the Pavilion being tarred by this act.

Went to see Tommy Emmanuel and Molly Tuttle. Cost £70 for two tickets. Have never sat in a colder venue in my life. Warmer outside. Pavillion has gone to the dogs thinking they can host 1300 people and two world class guitarists in a freezing cold theatre. Huge credit to the musicians - if it was me I wouldn’t have gone on. They were clearly struggling with the temperature at times. Shame on the pavilion. Won’t be back. If you can’t run the theatre properly don’t run it at all.

Went to the panto in December. Aladdins adventures. The story was very weak. Although the tech was good, the overall panto was pretty average mainly due to the lack of story and various scenes just did not fit. Probably quite good for young children and it was good to see so many families out enjoying themselves. The theatre itself was freezing cold which didn't help.

Absolute pits! Went to a show ‘Weegie Think Ae That!’ Meant to be comedy! The worst show by far I have seen in my life! 3 idiots on a stage believing they have talent? Oh noooooo! Absolutely diabolical! I apologised to my friends for subjecting them to sitting through this crap!

This was my first visit to the Pavillion, which is surprising as i used to attend the now non-existent Apollo straight across the street. Went to see Ed Byrne. Really friendly staff in the Box Office. Its an old theatre, but still reasonably fresh and clean looking inside. Drinks and snacks were reasonably priced as well. Every staff member we came into contact with were friendly and helpfull. Cheers folks, we had a great night !!

Hi not been in a box but think about 6 people.

Hi guys going here next Wednesday can anyone tell me if you can take drink to your seat and prices thanks
Written July 14, 2019
You can take bottles of soft drink if you bring them with you if you buy at the bar you have to finish it before you take your seats. Prices depends on the show.

I believe there is no lift in theatre. What help is available for patrons with breathing problems on climbing stairs.
Written January 2, 2019
Just returned from the Pavilion. There is no help for patrons with any mobility or disability you are left to fend for yourself as I have found to my cost. Seats are very uncomfortable, cramped, sagging providing little or no support. Difficult to enjoy any performance given these unsafe conditions

Is the circle ok for people with trouble with heights
Written November 27, 2018
Not great to be honest especially as seat backs in row in front appears low when you're moving along your row and you can therefore feel quite insecure when standing. Someone worried about heights would be better off in the stalls.
Written November 27, 2018
Can you bring your own juice and crisps?

No problem at all. We did and no one checked bags, etc.

Do you have disability amenities
Written December 29, 2017
I’m sure the theatre will provide a more rounded answer, but I have accompanied a wheelchair user in the past and although access was quite easy from the street we found it more difficult (but manageable) to get to and from the toilet, although it was a bit inconvenient the staff made up for this as they were so helpful.
Written December 30, 2017
Hi it would all depend on where you were seated I don't think you would get it in the rows as people would be expecting to get in and out hope this helps
Written December 20, 2017
Is the balcony views bad ? Thats all they have left front row of the balcony for the panto
Took them anyway hope its great

lmao!
Excellent seats everywhere! you will have a great time. Also I usually take my own sweets but I always buy the ice cream. Considering it's the theatre I think £1.99 for the tub is a great price and it's home made ... fabulous ice cream. I would recommend. (oh no I wouldn't....oh yes I would)
have a fabulous time!!
