We go to the Barras with every trip to Scotland because there are still some great stalls there. Focus on the antiques and comics and explore the many other areas. We also love talking to the many many characters there. Always great fun Just also be realistic that some of the other stalls aren't up to much. That is okay,... More

While the Barras is still an iconic market spot for Glaswegians it's become a lot more seedy and mainstream than it used to be. It's still got some of its local charm and Glasgow banter but the goods and services on sale are more like junk and it feels seedier than before. Glad it's still going but not what it... More

I went to the market a very long time ago, and it was wonderful, now it is mostly closed down, dirty and unloved. It was not worth the shoe leather to walk there from our hotel, What a shame as it used to be so vibrant. AVOID................

During our visit the Barras market looked really dirty, dull and terrible.. It was just missing an angry mob of homeless people. We rushed through it praying not to get robbed or smacked. Skip this forsaken "attraction" for your own sake.

It's a shame to see this iconic market loose its oomf! We went adter returning to Glasgow for my birthday and my having vivid childhood memories of the barras only to be disappointed.

Visited this for the first time in admittedly a while. What the hell has happened to it? I was gutted to see it so empty of both stalls and people, the lack of the latter down to the lack of the stalls. The Barras used to be (to use a Scottish term) pure heavin'!!!! And when I last visited it... More

Not what it was and probably nowadays not worth a special visit for atmosphere or shopping or food - lots of tack, counterfeit, cheap cigs and dvds - butchers seemed to have bargains! Difficult to park near. I will not be hurrying back.

Despite being so close to the city centre there is a poor selection of stalls and looking extremely tatty. A shadow of its heyday. Glasgow city council should provide support to turn the fortunes of this place around.

Visited on the morning of Sunday 13.12.15. What a complete waste of time. Hardly anything there and what was being sold was only for the bin. I will not be back and advise any readers not to waste their time going.
