Fossil Grove, located within Glasgow's Victoria Park, houses the fossilized remnants of an extensive ancient forest. Discovered on the site in 1887, the fossilized tree stumps are thought to be more than 300 million years old. Housed in a small corner of the attractive Victoria Park in the west of the city, the fossils are open to the public from noon til 5pm, April to September

Drove pass this park and seen the swans so had to fine it. Was here on one of the sunny days we get here in scotland. Have to say didn't think it was that big. Well walking in the place was lovely and clean no rubbish at all well kept I see. Only went to fed the swans and see... More

Only had time to have a short walk around one corner of the park but it seemed well kept. The main reason we visited was for the Fossil Grove. This is an incredible natural wonder where you can easily visualise a forest floor from hundreds of millions of years ago. There are very clear stumps and fallen trunks, even if... More

While waiting for a car service I took a wander around this old park. A typical, pretty municipal park with a pond, formal gardens, tennis, bowling and the famous fossil grove. Unfortunately the grove is only opened at weekends😖

As a regular user of this park I've found the pros to be: 1 lovely size of pond for little one to walk round. 2 toilets are usually spotless. 3 there is usually an ice cream van to hand for cold drinks and snacks. 4 childrens playpark is one of the best I've been too. Toddlers area is seperatle from... More

This is my local park, I can almost see it from my house! Quite a lot has changed here recently. The children's play area has been newly done, and they have restored the original Victorian gates and clock. By far the best for me though, are the newly re-surfaced tennis courts, basketball courts, and 9 hole putting green, which is... More

Victoria park is a very well kept park & a pleasure to walk around, as was the fossil grove. Very disappointed to find that the fossilised trees are now only open at the weekends. I had looked forward to seeing them for a few years. I tried phoning Glasgow park departments several times to check opening but never got the... More

Well done to Glasgow for the way they upkeep parks and keep the entry free. I've paid into parks abroad that don't have a fraction of the greenery, flowers or birds. Go for a walk around the pond or the rock garden area or to the fossil grove (although I'm not a fan of that part). You can play with... More

Been coming here since I was a kid & have always loved it, the fields, flower beds, park & fossil grove are all lovely. The pond however, could be better maintained.

this is my local park and it has an abundance to offer the surrounding community's. when the weather is great the park is at its fullest and does not disappoint, tho it would be cool to see the boats out on the water again like I used to see every summer when I was a child. it has a full... More
