Neighborhood: Merchant City
Merchant City, Glasgow's cultural quarter, wraps visitors in a rich tapestry of history, art, and fine dining. The neighborhood's cobbled streets echo with tales of the city's mercantile past, while its ornate architecture, like the Italian Centre, whispers of a more opulent era. Art lovers will find a haven in the Gallery of Modern Art, and foodies can indulge in a smorgasbord of culinary delights at the numerous stylish bars and gourmet restaurants. For a more casual fare, the weekend street markets offer a variety of local and international food stalls. With its central location and excellent public transport links, Merchant City serves as an ideal base for exploring the wider city.

This small statue stands on the banks of the Clyde between Jamaica Street and Howard Street. The statue represents Dolores Ibarruri who was a Spanish communist who came to symbolise Republican resistance against radical authoritarian nationalism during the Spanish Civil War.How sad then that on 4th May 2015 not far from this statue authoritarian nastionalists declared that democracy was dead.

When you walk along the Clyde stop awhile at this statue and ponder those who died for our freedom.

Not dramatic and not a destination in itself but nicely Clydeside and well worth seeing and thinking about the associated history. It represents Dolores Ibarruri. She was a Spanish communist who came to symbolize Republican resistance. A big bit of history and it does have some Glasgow links.Nice statue.

La Pasionara or "The Passionflower" in English is a stylized female figure. La Pasionara references Dolores Ibárruri, a heroine of the Spanish Civil War, who was known by that her sobriquet. An almost featureless, the statue is nevertheless full of movement, arms raised crying out for justice. It honours both Ibárruri and the British volunteers of the International Brigade who fought on the side of the republican forces against the Fascists Nationalists

La Pasionara is a statue looking out on the River Clyde it is not a particularly grand monument but it is good to hunt down if you like looking for things a little different on your trip to Glasgow.

i don't know much about Dolores Ibarruri but I'm not sure if this statue represents her or would inspire anyone to want to find out, its a bit dull looking, uninspiring, boring. i wouldn't go out of my way to see it.
