    McCartney Songbook
Entry to the hall was easy and well organised. There were plenty of clean toilet facilities and the queues at the bars moved quickly. On a hot June evening it was good that the hall was quite cool (not cold - definitely warm enough for short sleeves). The acoustics generally were good although there did seem to be a few small difficulties with a couple of the songs. The seating is pretty comfortable too. It definitely helped that the performance from The McCartney Songbook was very good.

Maiden Visit At The GRCH …..
Visited here last Thursday on a very rare ‘date night’ with my wife, child free. We had tickets to see a ‘Tribute to Hans Zimmer & John Williams by Moonlight’. A big movie fanatic myself, in particular Christopher Nolan films, this was always going to be a winner for me - unforgettable! The playlist, the props and the setting were all just quality. As for the GRCH itself, we were both very impressed. We entered from the Buchanan Street entrance and the building was grand, clearly basked in many years of history. Inside, the decor and layout was very traditional, maintaining it’s historic charm. We were sat at the back of the ground floor seating, thankfully with an aisle in front of us (all the leg room). We even managed to purchase a snack or two to take in with us (no point in lying, a tad expensive (but needed)). Definitely one off the tick list - hoping to be back again in the future if the right production is showing. A great night absorbing a bit of culture!

    Very mixed visit!
My wife and I are just in from seeing Skipinnish and it was a stark contrast to previous nights I’ve had here. I’ve been to lots of gigs here over the years with good experience, but tonight was definitely a bit different. It was a bit chaotic getting into the venue, but noted that the door staff were great at organising the queues! The rest of the staff were not as good, although very quick to deal with a first aid incident in the crowd, which was good! My wife had stepped out to get some water and had been offered some until she was told “stop talking to her and come help deal with this first aid situation” to which the staff member left her. This to me is completely unacceptable customer service and something I will be taking further. Otherwise Skipinnish were fantastic and the acoustics were excellent as always too!

    Wonderful experience!!
I had booked tickets for a few events but am now unable to sit in normal seats due to having a mobility problem. I spoke to a member of staff yesterday and she not only very kindly changed my seats but also helped me book more concerts. A wonderful and VERY helpful lady.

The legend that is Dionne Warwick
It was a privilege to share an evening with the legendary Dionne Warwick. A few more songs would have been great if only to showcase the EXCELLENT trio of piano, bass guitar and drums (Dionne’s son). They were superb. This was a one-off opportunity.

Went to see a show last night and the older female usher was a bit over zealous in asking “only us” to wear our masks ! No announcement was made that said they where mandatory and very few patrons where wearing them . Asked us to put our masks on & when asked was she going to tell all the people at the back of us too she said “I’m not going away up there “? I said why not if it was her job & she said it’s not my job ??? Unsure why she targeted just us , put on the masks anyway . At the interval I seen & heard her pointing me out to another usher & saying that’s her there ??? Later on I asked her who her supervisor was and she wanted to argue ? This usher made us feel totally uncomfortable with her bizarre behaviour , her supervisor said she would have a word . Great show , Sorry for your loss, but spoiled with horrible atmosphere this usher created !

This was our first outing to a big event and felt very safe it seemed that there was more staff on than usual. Did not have to show our covid passport or vaccination certificate because masks had to be worn during the performance however it was about 50% with masks on when the lights went down.

Staff very friendly and helpful, they even moved some people because they could not see the stage because of a bank of speakers.

Show was excellent Cliff Richard’s The Great 80 Tour.

A great venue for any show.

One of my favourite music venues. I didn’t mind at all being asked to wear a mask throughout the concert - in fact I welcomed it. However, although the “steward” reminded those of us who arrived early to follow Covid policies ( and also to not film the concert) as soon as people arrived who were “in the party mood” they were never challenged about not wearing masks, singing louder than the artist or filming during songs!! Paul Carrack’s is a concert that we look forward to every year but it was spoiled by a lack of “policing” policies …..either that or just don’t have policies!

I have visited the Royal Concert Hall on several occasions and the venue is excellent. Comfortable seating, ample toilet facilities and great acoustics. I have enjoyed each performance that I have attended.

Unfortunately, there appears to have been a slight change in policy following the pandemic. Upon entering, all patrons were subjected to a search, whereby ladies were instructed to open their handbags in order to ensure that no liquids were being carried inside. A lady in front of us had a bottle of water confiscated as if she were a schoolgirl. Personally, I view this as a violation of privacy, probably carried out to ensure maximum takings at the bar.

As always, the majority of the staff were friendly and helpful, but I did note a rather high-handed tone and manner from some staff members. The Royal Concert Hall remains a great venue and I look forward to enjoying many more performances in the future.

We bought drinks at the interval in the bar which we were given in plastic glasses to take into the show. We were told there was £1 deposit on each plastic glass which we would get back when we returned the glasses to the bar. When we took our glasses back the cafe bar was closed. There were lots of people trying to return their glasses to the closed bar. They must be making hundreds of pounds each night from this ☹️

The facilities for the disabled is very poor. One very small lift to go to the various floors. Disabled toilets on the first floor and again you have to queue up to use the lift. This toilet is used by everyone and is not marked as a disabled toilet. Wheelchair seating in the hall is very poor. Would not ever go back.

Went to see Lloyd Cole.
Was informed not allowed to go to booked seats until between songs in order not to cause disruption. Fair enough..
Was reminded during concert not to use flash photography. Again complied.
During second set, Was asked to be quite as others had "looked at me". No one was near by.
I felt so uncomfortable that I left the venue.
Lloyd Cole was good and I am.sure he did not hear my partner and I converse due to the volume of sound at concert considering we were on highest level and also as no one was nearby us due to empty seats surrounding us.
Felt the stewart was over zealous in the extreme.
I was so disappointed as this ruined my evening in what had been previously been a first class venue in my opinion.

I attended for A concert but met friends in the cafe area first. Buidling only opens at 6.30pm and we were served cold soup. Seems the Urns were only switched on at 6.30 too which is concerning since other cooked items were sitting in the buffet trays seemingly from earlier daytime events. Order of coffees took AGES to be received. Its a nice environment but some rips in seating needing repairs.
Gift shop empty and all locked up.
Concert was great but lots of empty seats, despite showing almost sold out when I purchased the tickets

Recently attended a music gig, all seats have good viewing, modern, light auditorium, significantly better than most we have attended.
Plenty of well staffed bars but drinks cannot be taken into the performance.
Situated city central on the main Buchanan Street adjacent to John Lewis.
Will definitely look for future performances in this venue.

We went as an elderly couple to see the Glen Miller Orchestra.
The band were excellent, the singers adequate and the conductor appeared to be confused, to say the least. However it was a fun afternoon with some interesting choices of music and we enjoyed it.
The venue is not fit for purpose. The stage looks shabby and dated. There are shabby louvred panels behind the performers, for no apparent purpose.
Many of the audience were disabled or/and elderly. There are too many stairs and the only accessible toilet is on the ground floor and has to be accessed by a lift. With so many elderly patrons, there was always a queue for the lift.
This building needs to be brought up to standards for disabled people.
Also the bar closed before the end of the performance, and has been said in previous reviews, plastic cups could not be returned. The choice at the bar was limited.
All in all I would hesitate to return here.
Extremely disappointed
