About
And most Single Malts are from the middle of nowhere. Us? We're different. We were forged in the fires of The Industrial Revolution and the Glaswegian sweat of our forefathers. We've taken the sweat out now. But boy do we still have the spirit. We're part of the city. And the city is part of us. We play hard. And we work even harder. We're not triple distilled because it's tradition. But because that's what it takes to create a delicate flavour unlike any other. Smooth, yet gutsy. Approachable yet deep. Open to newcomers and old friends alike. Just like where we're from. Auchentoshan Distilled Different

The distillery tour was very good and was value for money, as Gerry the guide took his time and was very informative. There were generous free samples and gifts at the end of the tour as well. The only downside was on initial arrival at the distillery - I was around half an hour early, and was held up from going through to the car park by an over zealous security guard. This sounds similar to the review from 542tashw who did not obviously get past even to see the shop. Fortunately I had prebooked. The guide said the guard was very efficient - I would use the word "jobsworth" as he probably had little to do. It was the first time I have ever been held up by security when arriving for a distillery visit, so initial impressions were not favourable, but these soon changed when the tour started.

I visited the Auchentoshan Distillery with my son on Thursday 30st Jan 2020 as part of a birthday/Christmas present whisky trip to Scotland. We booked the Auchentoshan Ultimate Experience tour for 2.30pm and it was a great experience, very relaxed atmosphere and our tour guide Brian was brilliant!! he's the man to have take you around!! very informative and great tastings along the way. I would highly recommend the distillery and this particular tour and Brian:-)

We did the “ultimate” tour and it was fantastic! Gerry was an amazing guide, taking us through the various rooms where the whisky is made and explaining the process. My science teacher sister especially loved it! The tasting at the end was brilliant - generous tasting portions and as the driver they gave me mine to take away in small tasting bottles. Really professional set up and very enjoyable. A definite for whisky lovers visiting Glasgow.

During the current restrictions only the Masterclass was available. I had tasted Auchentoshan before & keen to discover more. The Masterclass was led by Dougal who was very knowledgeable about the brand and whiskey history. Learnt so much about how to drink whiskey and tasting. Thoroughly recommend the Masterclass if you like whiskey, even a little bit. All the staff members made us feel welcome.

Due to the tougher drink drive laws in Scotland they kindly packed our nominated drivers drams into takeaway bottles. Their hand sanitiser is the best I have used. The alcohol used is what they use in their whiskeys!

Would love to come back for the tour at some point.

Was part of a group who were visiting Scotland and taking in a few distilleries over a few days. Arrived and told we couldn't enter. Unless we booked online. Had to try and book on phone outside the distillery only to find their tours have a limit of 6. Lots of weird questions about what rules we'd been following and where we'd traveled. Haven't come across this crap for ages, is like they think it's early 2020 nvm 2022. Very disappointed - couple of us looked at giftshop but ended up leaving with v bad impression - they don't want you even if you're a big fan that's happy to wear a mask etc. Wouldn't recommend until they seriously review restrictions nonsense.

Did the origins tour, very reasonable at £15 pp, shown round by a very knowledgeable guide, finishing with a taster of a couple of malts. We went in the maintenance shut down, but even so it was a great tour. The smell in the barrel house is worth £15!

Quite frankly, the experience of a lifetime.

I’ve always thought I was quite cool. 26, moderately intelligent, good at story telling, I enjoy a good time with friend and family, work out a bit and into music. But my word has the Auchentoshan distillery blown my mind completely and I think elevated my friend and I to the next level of internal confidence. The moment I walked into the tasting room with Gerry I realised there was another world to discover. One of rockstars, smokiness and fame.

Me and my friend had Gerry to ourselves as a pair. We both know a bit about whiskey, my friend more than me. But Gerry was about as knowledgable as it gets. We began with the history and regions, moving onto the making process and how that effects the colour of the whiskey. Then we began tasting the drams. He told us how best to enjoy the process of drinking. Mainly how to sniff. We spent a lot of time learning as our minds matured and processed the information. However Gerry was fantastic at including, guiding and helping us. Also he kept the mood up throughout with great stories and jokes. There was a quote he said to us that left us gobsmacked and changed the way we see whiskey drinking.

Personally, I really thought there would be times where I would be struggling to keep up. But Gerry’s calm, clear and friendly nature and way of talking meant that even as a relative beginner I could follow the process easily. My friend was loving it. Gerry even started the masterclass early and finished late. Meaning there there was absolutely no feeling of urgency or like it was rushed.

On leaving, we chatted about the setting of whiskey drinking which was invaluable and very good for us going forward.

In summary, this is the best whiskey distillery I have been to, Gerry was the most down to earth, personable person to have the pleasure to do this with and I will be returning and buying Auchentoshan for the foreseeable future.

The tour, which my wife & I thoroughly enjoyed was excellent. Anya was extremely knowlegable about the origins of the whisky industry in Scotland highlighting the history of the Auchentoshan distillery and it's roots on the outskirts of Duntocher. Anya managed to communicate the simplicity of the ingredients and the complexity of achieving a consistent brand flavour seamlessly maintaining the interest of the tour participants which comprised of a merged tour with a few extra bodies. Start to finish, Anya delivered what we considered a perfect 10....Thanks Anya 🙂 ps. Loved the miniature mugs gift ...nice touch

We went as a couple on the Ultimate Auchentoshan Experience tour. It lasted around 2.5 hours and our tour guide Brian was so knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. He definitely made it a tour to remember!
We have visited a few distilleries however, this was by far the best tour we have ever had. It was more than just the standard 'this is how whisky is made' and involved Brian's personal experience of whisky etc. The tastings were also excellent with discussion to ignore tasting notes and experience what we each personally tasted, smelled etc.
Overall, would definitely recommend to others! Amazing gift for a whisky lover.

The staff here were exemplary from the gate security man to the visitor centre itself.

We were met at the main gate by the security man. He was exceptionally friendly, chatty and helpful and took great care in directing us (in our motorhome) and welcoming us.

The shop is reasonably small but very welcoming with a good range on whisky’s and gifts.

The staff showed great pride in their work and in their brand. We tasted a few whisky’s and bought two. One was a single barrel whisky and the guy took great pride in finding us a bottle that he had personally drawn off the previous day. We bought a few branded momentos as well.

Definitely Well worth a visit.
