Stopped by this pub on a day out, post lockdown most places need to be booked and all along this part of Argyle Street, which is full of pubs, had all been booked. Managed to get in here, with the social distancing restrictions etc it wasn't too busy, plastic shields up between tables. Hand sanitizer available, one in one out toilet system, table service. Staff friendly and polite. Would definitely go back.

This pub is like a walk back in time. That old saloon vibe with the dark wood interior and windows blocked up providing an intimate old gentleman’s drinking establishment. We were up in Glasgow for the weekend and stumbled across the venue located on a street corner whilst en route to the Kelvingrove Park. Don’t offend the landlady asking for a hot drink, out of the question. Attend only for a pint of ale or a sip of good Scottish whiskey! I welcomed some guidance when it came to whiskey choice and the landlady liked this I believe. To recommend one - single malt 10 year old Talisker. Served neat with a small glass of water on the side, can you get anymore Glaswegian! Great pub.

Revisited this bar on 28/07/20. After a long time of having lockdown restrictions eased my husband and I came back for a quick visit.
We sat inside as it was sunny but a cold breeze blowing outside.
The hand sanitizer and screens between tables and one way system were excellent. The toilets are now restricted to one person at a time with a light on the door to make people aware that it is in use.
We had an excellent glass of pinot grigio and a pint of Tennents for my husband.
The staff are very pleasant and jovial even though they were wearing masks. The atmosphere is convivial and we will revisit this excellent bar again once this Covid 19 business is over and they have live music on again.

Improve on the manner of the staff!
I visited on Saturday 19th June with 2 friends, we ordered a drink whist sitting in the tiny plastic enclosed makeshift booth between 3 gentlemen on our right and 5 on our left. Our drinks arrived and as we began chatting and having a general laugh between us the female on duty approached our table and said to keep the level down,’we were all shocked at her attitude and her approach to us. We were in no way being rowdy or offensive as we are all NHS staff one of which is going through a very traumatic personal experience and this was our first social
outing and in no way wanted to be judged. We did apologise only to be approached again by her and also ‘ Owen’ who then asked us to leave . We were absolutely shocked and embarrassed as by now other people were staring at disbelief and seemed “scared” to offer an opinion on their behaviour. I said if we have to leave then refund our drinks bills which again had only been purchased, it was met with total silence and ignorance whist ‘grabbing’ our drinks from the table… To say this behaviour is disgusting and unacceptable especially whist we as a country are dealing with the affects of this pandemic and want our local establishments to get back up and running , I for one think why bother!!!
I will be contacting this establishment personally and will be taking this further!!!

A fantastic bar. Huge whisky selection, including rare editionswith fantastic knowledgeable staff . One of the better equipped whiskey bars in Glasgow. They have a log fire which creates some authentic warmth and welcoming vibes. really lovely atmosphere. Drinks priced fairly. Will definitely be returning here on my next visit to Glasgow.

Visited during Covid restrictions. Phoned first to reserve a table and was offered an outside table instantly with the promise of a move inside when available. It was a beautiful sunny early evening and outside would have been just fine, however on our arrival a table was available inside. There were 4 of us and we felt very safe. The staff all wore masks (and customers when moving about) - the service was superb and we were even bought a round by our next table - only in Glasgow. A super experience and thanks to that table of 3 next to us (and for the help with the QR scanning).

We popped by just for 1/2 hour after 9pm to hear some traditional Scottish music. Tiny bar with a lively atmosphere. We wiggled our way to the bar and asked for help in choosing a couple of whiskeys. The bartenders are super nice and he pulled down about 5 for us to sniff, and then pick from. Music was great -- 3 fiddles, a cello, a guitar, and accordian and a drum-thingy. All jamming and having fun. Looked like mostly locals but no one seems to care where you're from -- a very welcoming place! And Argyle Street itself is the most interesting in Glasgow (in our opinion)

Take yourself to a little pub in Argyle street glasgow (close to ) exhibition centre & Kelvin Hall , that to my mind is a whisky drinkers paradise
The bar & gantry are loaded with every conceivable whisky , very earthy/quirky , settting is stone/wood in a scottish sense , gents toilet is depicted on the handle by a male goldfinch & ladies toilet with a female goldfinch , the fire place is lovely , based on crane (bird) with long legs, full compliments of free newspapers , snacks like mince and tatties or haggis etc , tastie , tried a few items .
background music plays quietly & it has a tv that is not always turned on
beers , include sagres & a few other continental brands
plenty of seating & standing tables
always attentive and friendly staff
in the summer months , tables & chairs are outside

Had a few pints and some whiskey here while enjoying the weekly Sunday local music. The people were friendly, drinks were great, and the music amazing!

Great choice of beer and whisky. Definitely worth a visit. One of Glasgow’s iconic pubs and should be on everyone’s to do list.
