This fountain lies in Glasgow Green, right in front of the Peoples' Palace. It is an elaborate, tall, spectacular terracotta work of art which is claimed to be the tallest such fountain in the world. It is a feature representing the glories of Victorian times and the wonders of the Empire. It is definitely worth seeing for its grandeur and history.

The Doulton Fountain is a large fountain that sits just outside the a the People’s Palace in Glasgow Green. The fountain is reputedly the largest terracotta fountain in the world and was produced by Doulton & Co for the Glasgow Exhibition of 1888.

The general theme of the fountain is glory of the British Empire. Queen Victoria stands atop the centre of the fountain to symbolise her reigns over empire. Immediately below her is water carrying maids empty water onto the lower tiers. Below them is a sailor and one soldier from each of Scotland, England and Wales, the source of her glory. On the lowest tier are four groups of figures, to represent the four a major colonies of the empire. Being South Africa, Australia, Canada and India.

This is a fantastic and majestic-looking fountain, located just next to the People's Palace in Glasgow Green park.
The detail level of the fountain is absolutely incredible, not to mention its sheer size.

An absolutely stunning fountain. Very elaborate, skilfully made and great to look at. Sadly it has no water. It would be really wonderful to see it operational, in all its glory, with the splashing of water.
Right outside the People Palace, it is impossible to miss in its grandeur.
