Fabulous walk from the car park near St Andrews golf course. Walk out along West Sands beach and when you get to the Eden estuary turn left and walk around the golf courses, completing a 4 mile circuit back to where you parked.

This is a very large and sandy beach which is well known due to the fact the a scene from Chariots of fire was filmed on it.

A super pristine place for a relaxing time. It's free and ideal for a spot of food in a wicker basket. The beach is great but more for wading only.

The history of that beach is just amazing. Its worth the walk as it is just beautiful. Feel free to play the theme song of Chariot of Fire as you walk or run down it.

Opening Scene for Chariots of Fire was filmed here - so it was good to see - and it's a stunning clean sandy beach with an azure sea - cold though so wouldn't swim there.

We love the beach here as it is so clean and you can park up free all day. There are also clean free toilets across the road not far from the beach.

Massive beach and loads of parking. Enjoyed a long walk with our dog on a pleasant , breezy, sunny day.

The beach is very pretty from a distance, a beautiful piece of the iconic scenery of the city of St. Andrews, and the most magnificent background for the Old Course. However, up close it's a bit dirty. The coast was littered with dead seagulls and...More

This was a lovely walk on a lovely sunny day with great views not so nice on a wet and windy day i would guess.

We ran the Chariots of Fire Beach Race this weekend along the West Sands beach. It’s a vast expanse of beach, really clean, easy to access & plenty of parking. The town of St. Andrews is a 5 minute walk away, and the views from...More

Yes, there is a stretch of rock that is exposed during low tide quite close to the beach wall, which forms rock pools accessible for exploring. Obviously ensure you are aware of high and low tide times, and identify your... More

People do, but stay away from the dunes, because if they catch fire, the damage is long-lasting and very destructive.
