This beach is breath taking....beautiful but not busy, inspires a sense of awe , majestic ,at the same time calm and relaxing. The walk on the long pier is so romantic, sitting there with legs hanging down , may I say therapeutic Apart from the...More

I never knew until I took a tour of the town that the beach at St Andrews, West Sands, was the location for Chariots of Fire's most famous scene.... que music and lots of homemade videos on my iPhone trying to re-create the scene for...More

Once on the beach it was quite sheltered. The beach is flat and sandy - no pebbles or shingle where we were. Brought back flashes of the film 'Chariots of Fire' as the beach scene was filmed here. We couldn't resist humming the theme tune...More

The Weat Sands is a stunning long beach although the dunes system at the far end has been affected by restoration by the R&A, which is a bit of a shame for a biologist. Great for a walk, but can get a tad windy!

This is a really good beech, really clean and golden sands. Not too busy but also not too busy, just right! There are toilets which could be better, an ice cream kiosk and a play park so good for the whole family!

Spent a cracking afternoon on St Andrews beach. Dog loved going along and back. Good few hours chasing her ball into sea, quite shallow as far as i could throw, waves without dangerour currents. She was well tired....so were we.

A beautiful bech. Very long and perfect to take a walk at. Be careful when taking a bath when the ground-swells can be really rough.

My only guess would be that a lot of sea birds take advantage of bivalves dislodged/disturbed during storms. At least that's what I see here on our beach in Madison, CT.
