We'd seen Barbara Dickson and Rab Noakes in Pitlochry so we thought we'd like to see them in the Byre in the Botanic Gardens. The Byre deserve huge praise for this. The venue is beautiful, the stewarding exceptionally good, the seating brilliant and the acoustics great. There was a great choice of drinks and food and the toilets were more... More

Going to the theatre here is one thing you can enjoy on the premises, and the theatre here has a fine acoustic. More often than not, what I use it for is taking my time to think in extremely amenable surroundings: a coffee downstairs, a seat upstairs to look out at the garden and enjoy the light on a good... The future of The Byre Theatre was under threat until it was agreed it should come under the auspices of the University of St Andrews - a very sensible , pragmatic solution. This visit was to see ' Countdown' and it proved to be modern theatre at its very best , presenting a highly topical, current , dramatic theme in... More

Had a fabulous night last weekend at the Friends in Low Places Gareth Brooks tribute night. It's a super wee theatre and you are always guaranteed a great seat. Sadly the Friday night performance was very quiet, even the lead singer commented on how quiet it was. Here comes my rant....on the Friday afternoon of the Friends in Low Places... More

Went to see Garth Brooks tribute band and loved the atmosphere this small and intimate venue provided. Bar and restaurant on site, staff very friendly and helpful. Will look out for future productions here.

If you get the chance to visit this small, friendly theatre then do so! We recently went to see George Egg (The Anarchist Chef) which was great fun. Small theatre with the largest, comfiest seats I have ever sat on. Very reasonably priced tickets and its nice to support a local venue. Good sized bar/restaurant area downstairs. Surprised it wasn't... More

It was easy to find the theatre to watch Hairy Maclary, drink was easy to get before the show and seats where decent. The show itself was entertaining and was first time I had ever heard of the dog. Daughter loved the show as well.

We like this theatre as it is small and comfortable and lets the performance appear to be part of the audience (or is that the other way round?). There's plenty of leg room and every seat has a clear view of the stage (even with there was a group of very tall individuals sitting in front of you). We booked... More
