Located a walking distance from the town centre, the castle offers an impressive view of the sea. Overlooking the sea throughout, it is a very good exercise to go down to the beach, but once there you can experience solitude and a strange sensation of peace....More

Pretty much ruins, but with lots of history. Great photo opportunities. Something you should see, but not spend too much time on.

We came upon the St. Andrews Castle towards the end of our visit of the town. Perched overlooking the sea, this is yet another of the historic locations you will find in this fascinating town.

What remains of this castle is interesting to visit. Admission includes an audio tour to tell you about the different areas of the castle. There are some nice views of the water from here. There is a lot of history in St. Andrews.

Apart from the underground tunnels and the displays in the entrance shop there is not much about the castle that cannot be seen from the path that passes it. Not sure it's worth paying to go round it
